The last 8GB cards I bought were a 5700XT and a 2070 Super, both new. The current minimum for a GPU priced over $250 should be 12GB. Over $400, 16GB. A card that's priced over $1000 should have 24GB, sing your favorite songs, and make lunch.

I don't even need a GPU and I still watch these videos. Really good content.

I was just looking at the available 4080 Supers - not a one at NE or Amazon, and the available 4080's are well into the $1200++ range.
Even the 7900 XT's and XTX's are facing some availability issues it seems while prices seem to be ticking up. Finding a white card is even more difficult in both availability and affordability. Best I can do is at NE for a white 7900 XTX Power Color Hellhound for $1K, and an ASRock Phantom white 7900XT for ~$750.00. That's quite a price difference for the added memory and some extra speed.
The market is just crazy.

i pulled the trigger on a high performing, low wattage custom build for about 1.6k. it's a 7800xt with 7800x3d, on a x670 board. i do a lot of different stuff on this thing including gaming and different professional workloads. so far, i have not experienced anything but speed on 1440p max settings. it's so fast and smooth, doesnt run very hot, and it's super quiet, i love it, and i hope it'll last me 8-10 years

I'm just starting to learn about these modern video cards having been a console player for the longest time, one common theme I keep seeing on these reviews is, "if I save a little more money..." so you end up never buying a video card. Or you end up chasing video cards down a rabbit hole, starting at $250, then for $50 more you can get something better, but for $70 more you can get this even better card, then next thing you know, you're looking at $900 cards when you were looking at $250 cards from the start.

I'm a big fan of used and open box components. Last week I pulled the trigger on a Gigabyte RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC, open box from Best Buy for $415. It's my first high performance card, at least to to me. I'm starting on an old XEON workstation build with an E5 or dual E5 V4s and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory that is dirt cheap. It's going to be a learning experience where I'll eventually move to a modern CPU and hopefully, taking this video card with me, or at least being able to recoup a decent amount toward the next card.

The only sad thing is the prices, which are realistic within US borders.
Outside US we all pay a hefty premium which aint even worth it to be honest.

Where i live most prices are about +200usd more that it is for anyone within the US.
Which makes these prices unrealistic for most of us.

Great video for US gamers, not so much for the rest of the world, pretty much. 😞

I'm trying to build a new PC and was thinking of a 7800x3d + 7900 xt or xtx. Is it really worth the extra money for the extra x? I currently dont have a 4k monitors or anything like that as they'reo only 1080 but i do stream and want something that is going to last for a good while. Any advice? Thanks for the video man, always entertaining and informative.

Hey Jason your videos have been extremely helpful and informative. Thanks to that I've got my second pc(4090) about a month ago which was definitely(kind of) worth the money unlike my first pc(3050) and I also knew exactly what to research and look for. I've also given a friend a pointer or two when it comes to getting gpus which has helped him too.

@jason I'm now building my first PC and your videos have helped me a ton. I see you listed the rx 7800 xt as a good 1440 option. But it'll also play some titles in 4k, will it not? Thank you and keep up the inspiring work

I just bought a used RX 6800 on eBay. This card seems to me, being the best value 1440p card today. 16gb vram is important now, but wasn't 4 years ago when it came on the market.

For the future, im looking for a RTX 3060 ti or a RTX 3070 ti both used (for the 3070 ti I need a new psu) do you recommend the rtx 3070 ti or I just go with the 3060ti

NOTE: They are like 40$ diference or less for an RTX 3070, im rocking a ryzen 2600 (wishing to swap to an 5600x from ali) a GTX 1650 and a 550 psu with 1 pcie 8 pin connector.
So any advice? because both cards are 8 gb

Currently saving for a 7900XT based build and I'm hoping UK market price stays around 715-750 by June!

Just finished building my system (7600, 7900xt). I mainly play WoW and sometimes cyberpunk and assassin creed style games. Thinking of dropping down to 7800XT with the better price to performance. Think that is a good idea?
