Hey man! I’ve been watching your videos like crazy for the past two months to help me get my tig root down for my certification in December! I noticed you don’t have a 3g mild steel tig root video…Would you give a thought to maybe doing a video like that someday in the future??I really love the way you explain things. It’s a lot better than most other Youtubers, and it’s impressive that English isn’t even your first language!

Hey man I forgot to mention this but I started watching your videos like crazy back in January with the dream of becoming a pipe welder, took into action in march and in September I passed my first combo pipe test and I just wanna give you a HUUUGE thanks man, I was self taught off your YouTube channel just learning in my garage for 6 months, and here I am almost 2 months in. I still watch your videos and keep learning with every upload but thanks again for your videos man thanks to you I learned how to weld pipe and how to put in roots hot passes and caps the slick way.

Nice job for a Big Gap there, my friend.

Did You use 1/8” filler wire for that?

With the root pass you did is it possible for you to use a #10 cup for the root?

I was trying the same technique on a 5mm thick 304 stainless pressure vessel Friday, in the 2g position, 5mm gap, 3mm rod, but the top of the bevel kept falling in on me. I was running about 103 amps. Do you think my travel speed must have been too slow? Cheers m8

Start with 5/32 gap, start with 1/8 wire and shrinkage may require 3/32 in areas, I've also found I get better results not feathering, no need to with starts, and tieing in I find feathering causes too much suck back and get nicer tie ins without, but best practice is to feather

My biggest problem is scooting my hand back when I’m running out of wire. I can’t ever keep that wire still and connected when trying to feed it unless I hold the very end of it and never move my fingers.

I ask this question out of sheer ignorance. Why do you want to start out with a gap that then has to be filled?

I use a dry torch. No foot pedal. Do a tig root with that.
