Freehand root pass, TIG welding for beginners. There are numerous techniques by which TIG Welding can be carried out. If case the circumstance requires you to go ahead with the Freehand technique, you should be very familiar with it, and skilled if you want to be successful in TIG welding, more so, if you happen to be holding a well-paid job in the welding industry. The Freehand strategy can be utilized when welding other items other than piping whereas Walking the Cup technique is tailored particularly in the welding of pipes.

I asked previously if it is possible to zoom out, to see your hand position and how you feed the rod. You nail it exactly around the 8th minute. 🔨 🔥🔥🔥
There are many Freehand Root videos on Tube, most of those speed up during the process and astonishing end results. Maybe even cheated and done on the positioner? 🤔😃
Those videos frankly confused me more instead.

ya make it look easy... been watching your videos to get the freehand technique down. I was taught laywire... been out of it a lil while and now, 50% of the time, the bottom is flat as a pancake... By code it is acceptable, However, i want more reinforcement. last thing i want is suck back on the hot pass. just got tig fingers to help as well. so now ill be doing 5/32 gap with 1/8 wire. had a bunch of coupons tqcked up with 1/8 gap and tried 3/32 wire... gotta long way to go... lol shaky.
