10' Pipe TIG Welding Root Pass In Position !

Tig welding root pass in position! TIG Welding Technique! This video is about the combination of lay-wire, constant feed technique, back feed, and dipping technique on the root during tig welding. The welding technique used will depend on the thickness of the pipe. On a thin wall pipe, you can either free-hand or walking the cup. This is because you will have a shallow bevel that you can walk on with the cup. If it is a heavy wall pipe you will want a cup size that is small enough to fit between the groves and slide easily. The video gives viewers good insights into placing excellent and solid root passes. You will get to learn about different technical paths that you can explore. With the appropriate training and practice on the operator's part, learning to place the root can become an invaluable skill!

Excelent video again, good explanation. I found the tip about keeping the rod 50/50 on the bevel edge, insaid and outside quite helpful. 🙏 Thanks for sharing.

Close shoots were great. If possibile in the future it would be great to see zoom out scene, from your hand were you feed the rod. Just an idea, to see how you rest your hand on the pipe. How fast you feed the rod. Do you rest the rod on the tack when feeding. And so on.
