Excellent video for listening practice! Understanding spoken Portuguese is the hardest part of learning the language.

Love this little video. Beautiful visuals, well-crafted editing, so engaging. It's really helpful to hear Portuguese spoken fluently but simply and slowly enough for me to track (English speaker just starting to learn Portuguese). I'll watch this video many times, and especially when I'm missing Lisbon.

I visited Portugal for the first time last week, after learning Brazilian Portuguese for 10 months! It was really difficult to make the adjustment to understanding European Portuguese, but I did manage to have some small conversations with people and I was really proud of myself. Your videos are super helpful, thank you!

Thanks for this video! Please, more like this where YOU are just speaking purely Portuguese - it's a great bridge to understanding native speakers. You, as a non-native speaker, speak a little more slowly and a little more clearly and so I can understand virtually everything you say - like 90%! It is so discouraging, hearing the native speakers who go so fast and habitually drop sounds and slur sounds together. I was feeling hopeless until I watched this, then I realized I am in fact getting it. I'm a fluent Latin American Spanish speaker, and all my friends learning Spanish always tell me I am much easier to understand - precisely because I am a little slower and a little clearer.

Your dedication is awesome Liz! I work from home (I live in Sibaya Precinct, just North of Durban, on South Africa's east coast). Like you, I enjoy watching the sun dapple on the waves, as seen from my apartment on the beachfront. I've never been to Potugal, but have already booked a flight to Lisbon for the third week of November this year. Who knows, maybe I will be able to share a cup of tea with an amazing Portuguese teacher called Liz :). Looks like it won't happen on a Monday? :) Tchau.

Obrigada!

What!? I did not know Portuguese sounded like this! I thought it sounded way closer to Spanish... I really like it.
Sounds like a mix between Hungarian, Russian and Spanish...
