I've been physically, mentally and emotionally destroying myself for months over a relationship brake up, feeling I'm not worthy and unloveable, no confidence and all that dark stuff. Drinking and smoking to excess, not eating or sleeping properly and generally killing myself slowly. The past couple of weeks I've set out to let it all go and rebuild myself and one of my greatest inspirations in this new journey is your videos. I've been watching certain ones on repeat everyday, letting the weight of the words sink in and it is truly helping me through the darkness I've been engulfed in. I still have the odd wobble when I hear the person's name or a certain song comes on but on the whole I'm rising from the ashes and I'd like to give you a sincerely heart felt thank you for your part in lighting the path to a better perception. Nuff love, Russell. Peace and happiness to you always 🤘🏼

"Be not the slave of your moods, but their master. But if you are so angry, so depressed and so sore that your spirit cannot find deliverance and peace even in prayer, then quickly go and give some pleasure to someone lowly or sorrowful, or to a guilty or innocent sufferer! Sacrifice yourself, your talent, your time, your rest to another, to one who has to bear a heavier load than you." - Abdu'l-Baha, from the Baha'i writings

I recently lost my father but I'm having a hard time sticking sober, I had a drink problem a few years ago but got rid of the addiction. Russell, I watch a lot of your vids and always get an answer for any shitty feelings I may get. Keep up the vids and words of wisdom 👍

I lost my dad 4 years ago, and have been in a dark place for a long time. Your videos have reminded me that I’m allowed to have the feelings I’m having, but I don’t have to live in the pain. Thank you, mate.

Things have been stressful and tough since the beginning of the year, I have been striving for one goal to always have it just out of reach. When you said recognise we do not have the right to have all the things we do actually have it made me realise things aren’t perfect but they aren’t THAT bad either. Thank you 🙏🏻

One day a very long time ago, I was having a conversation over coffee with my AA sponsor. She observed something that I did and brought it to my attention, simply remarking that it was something she noticed (not judgmental in any way--just a neutral observation). What she noticed was that I'd been talking about something I'd experienced in very positive terms--something uplifting, something that made me happy. And suddenly, seemingly at a normal point of closure for that subject, I switched direction 180 degrees from positive to negative, embarking on a new memory or observation that was a downer, changing my entire mood from contentment to angst. It was a non-sequitur. And then I gained a new insight into myself--that I have a habit of unconsciously moving my mood from happiness to distress. As though I'm not comfortable being happy. It's as if there is a belief or a voice in my head that says "you should not be happy" or "you are too happy" or "what right do you have to be happy when others suffer?" Therefore, switching gears and moving towards self-pity or anger or hurt or resentment is a way for me to sort of balance things out by negating my happiness. It was so helpful that she caught that and brought it to my attention. Since then, I've been able to catch myself when I do that at times (not always, but a lot of the time.) I don't have to punish myself like a parent taking away a kid's toy; that is a learned behavior I can work to eliminate.

Yes Helping and gratitude (no matter how small the helping) if you can only help one person at a time that is still great and remember you don't have to solve all the problems of the world. Help and gratitude is a great head space of appreciating all that is in the moment. Thank you Russell you are always helping me.

I like the way you distinguish between grief and self-pity, and also how you define abundance “a bowl of fruit. Wow!” Very humbling. Thank you for this daily wisdom. 🙏
