In today's episode, Danny + Rich give Danny's new custom build guitar from Gordon Smith Guitars a whirl! This was months in the making, going back and forth with the great guys at Gordon Smith and this is what came out!

The idea behind the guitar was originally to create an "SG" type guitar with a P90 Humbucker combo but after seeing some really cool prototypes on Gordon Smith's Instagram page of some matte black finishes, Danny had to go with this!

You also get to have a sneak peak of Danny's new pedal board built by NRG Effects, and we have a video with the man behind NRG, Neil Grimes coming soon to play through his entire range!

Looks great. I get my new GS Graduate tomorrow.

BTW you split a humbucker as and tap a single coil pickup.

Split because you essentially shut off half the humbucker to give you a single coil.

Coil tapping is when you want to lower the output of a single coil pickup. Normally the signal is taken from the end of the coil, you 'tap' it by moving the point you take the signal, usually to the middle or 2/3rds of the way around the wrapped wire rather than the end of it and this gives you a reduced output signal.

Enjoy that GS, looks like a keeper.

Got a handmade custom Gordon Smith approx 6 or 7 months ago.
It is an absolutely outstanding instrument and I rarely use my Gibson’s or Fenders etc anymore...it’s that good!
As a session player/artist of over 30 years I’ve pretty much owned and used my Gordon Smith is a keeper! ❤️👍🏻💁🏼

Lovely guitar, what model is that based on, GS deluxe? or GS 1000 with added pickup?

I got a used Gordon-Smith Gypsy 2 in 91 as a stop-gap guitar until I got a Les Paul at the right price. I got a 74 Gibson SG Special a year later that was great in the shop but didn't sound as good as the GS when I got it home. I still haven't played a LP that's worth buying!

09:15 probably not going to be another one exactly like this ...lol at least not till bonus week where I pop onto GS and ask them "you know that guitar you built for the Lick Loft lads...build me the left handed version" :)

My "dream guitar" would be a LP, a Tele, a Strat, a 335 all in one... To me it does not exist. I do have a Gibson Nighthawk with 3 PU's and all sorts of combinations, A Deluxe Tele with a TV Jones in the back and a WideRange in the front, independent Vol and Tones for both PU's, Series/Parallel toggle... But IMO, one needs more than one guitar to achieve all the tones you dream of. My 2c
