I was skint in Liverpool in 1984 and took my 1979/80 GS1 into Curlys Music in Liverpool to sell it. The bloke in the shop looked the guitar over, sighed, played it for a bit, looked at it lovingly and sighed, then offered to lend me money but on condition I never ever sold that guitar because if I did I would regret it for the rest of my life. I owe that man so much.

I got a Gordon Smith T-style earlier this year. Fantastic guitar and, as John says, very reasonably priced for what you are getting. I am lucky enough to live not too far from their workshop in Higham Ferrers. It’s great to be able to go there to spec your guitar in person and get a look round to see the instruments being made. They quoted me 8 weeks delivery but it was much less than that. They also keep you updated during the process with photos of your guitar being built. Great company and great instruments!

GS1 was my first quality guitar back in the early 90's. Followed by a Graduate G60, Graf, SG2 and finally an Explorer. Still have all of them. When I eventually have to downsize most will have to go, but the GS1 is not going anywhere. I have a nice Les Paul Junior, but that will go long before the Gordon Smiths. Good to see that you are happy with your new guitar, I think that you are now wise enough to hang on to it.

Such a beautiful guitar, and not a half an inch of 'nitro' covering the wood. I love the double cut-away, too. *Thanks John!!*

Beautiful playing and guitar. I had a Galaxie back in the 90s which I sold to build a mountain bike which was promptly stolen. I remember the playability was awesome, regret selling it.

The Chinese plastic tortoise is now an endangered species, thanks to the number of replacement scratchplates you've bought, John!

Good know Gordon Smith are still going. I nearly bought a basic GS in the late 80's but went with a Gibson Les Paul Junior instead. Two other Les Pauls followed- a Studio and Standard. The GS you have is a higher spec than the GS I had in my sights all those years ago and it was a strong contender against the Gibson I eventually went for. I remember Pat Travers used a basic GS a lot.

Still have my mid nineties GS2, well worn but still plays great but will need a re-fret sometime. I think you will find the two screws securing the nut allow for string height adjustment.

Just stumbled across this. Great guitar, super sound, lovely playing. Subscribing immediately ~ yup, you’ve impressed the heck out of a bass guitarist. Thanks, & keep ‘em coming please.

"I've probably eaten meals that weigh more than a Les Paul Custom.... and the bloke playing it!" That cracked me up (and gave me a feeling of déjà vu). I have a GSG 2 being built to my specifications (with bridge humbucker and neck P90) as I write this.

Fantastic guitar! Cedar is actually a really great body wood, lots of custom Tele's are equipped with cedar. I already have my dream quilt top strat but my other dream guitar would be a Les Paul Special DC with 3 P90's & a 5 way p/u switch. The neck profile looks thin like a 60's model. 🤟😎👍🎸🔥

Beautiful tone, playing and guitar! You've got lucky on that one John :) Enjoy ! Ruokangas uses Cedar as well: light and resonating 👍🏻🤘🏻

That very same guitar was in my watch list.  Unfortunately I'd already spent all my money on something else so couldn't really pull the trigger.  Great to see and hear it in action.
