My favourite quote, date your cameras but marry your lenses.

I upgraded my Nikon D5300 to a α7III. Best decision by far.

Jason, WTF bro! Why was this the exact dilemma I've been facing over the last month. I'm so glad I trusted my gut feeling and ordered my 70-200 gm ii to pair with my A7 III. I want to save and invest into an A1 eventually but since it's been out for a few years I figured they may update it at some point so I was like hey, I'll grab the latest lens and then when I pull the trigger on the camera sometime way down the road, the lens will be pretty much new in terms of tech to pair with the new body. That was just my train of thought in making my decision lol.

Thanks so much for posting this! And your videos are amazing! Keep em coming.

I just got a Canon SL1 for $200, and the kit lens makes is good for photos! It’s a couple years old but for my first ever DSLR it’s good!

Yeah, thats why its hard living as a videographer because we need to upgrade both, we need better laptop/computer to edit and still we need that many tools that photographer need, and creative idea for moving picture aka video isnt easy at all.

I’m doing a transition into hybrid creation, so video and photo. I’ve been using a Canon T1i, a 13 year old mirrored DSLR for the past 3 years and it’s served me well for photo needs. However, I recently upgraded to a Sony A7iii and I’m blown away at what a modern mirrorless camera can do. The low light performance, ISO range, speed of the shutter and quality is just incredible and it’s not even a brand new camera anymore! Can’t wait until I get some new lenses so I can switch out these used ones I have now.

It's a truth that good quality glass brings more joy to this photographer than a new camera. I'm not a professional who's ever earnt cash from any of my stuff just someone who simply enjoys taking photos of just about anything and actually printing out the good ones

i think lens is always more important then camera, also in video too. if u can do good shot with an old camera (and with good lens too), u can get good shot with anything, so upgrade your lens

Yes indeed - I just bought a 15 year old Sigma 24mm F1.8 for my 17 year old Nikon D200 🙄😁

I’m upgrading from a T2i to an R8. I’ve found myself to be shooting at night and sports more than I like, so the slower shutter and limited ISO has been challenging to work with. Then on the ergonomics side, the body has become a bit small for my hand.

Hopefully this upgrade to a mirrorless full frame and L lens will be beneficial and last me a while before another upgrade.
