This was filmed at my school, in and around my neighborhood, and I was even an extra. It was just being part of the crowd but I was given free PB&J sandwiches and I got to watch these amazing BMXers ride that course all day. It was heaven.

For those of us born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s, Rad was a movie that meant so much. As BMX freestyle was such a popular thing

My Mom died when I was young but we wore this VCR tape out while she was alive. She used to take me to get a vanilla milkshake from McDonalds and a BMX magazine and I would tell her all the new parts out. These were good days.

This movie inspired an entire generation of BMX riders, many who continue to ride well into their 40s and 50s.

I miss the hell out of my BMX days. I raced for 4 years and won several trophies. I must say they were the best days of my life. The 80's rock and always will 🤘🤘🤘🤘

I've seen this movie over 150 times easy growing up. Going by my cousin's house with my bmx bike tied down in the trunk of my father's car started off some of my best childhood memories. You can't replace that. I feel sorry for the kids of the digital world, because the digital world takes away most of the magic for a child early in life in addition to kids making bonds that last a life time.

growing up, this movie was never available to rent. People would rent it and keep it for weeks at a time. Glad it is in digitial hd now.

The songs "thunder in your heart" and "breaking the ice", to me they are as iconic as any inspiring song in the Rocky movies. If you love the movie rad you know exactly what I mean. Great review minty, been waiting for this one for a long time.

Rad was one of my favorite movies growing up. I used to spend countless hours learning all of the bike stunts, and to this day, one of my favorite songs is still "Thunder in your Heart".

Nobody ever makes the connection but I still randomly slip in the quote 'you over-rotated!' whenever it applies

I don't care what critics say about this movie, it's my favorite childhood movie, and it's still my favorite movie now.

I was born in '83. My mom told me that i watched rad so many times that she had to buy a second copy. This literally defined my youth. I went on to ride BMX long into my 20's. Most all of my friends in my teens were made while riding bikes.

RAD and Thrashin are two of my favorite movies growing up. I was 8 years old when the two came out and I was hooked! I still watch them whenever they come on tv

The term “balls out” refers to governors on steam engines. The faster the engine went, these arms with balls at the end would get spun and lifted by centrifugal force. At the top of their reach, the engine would be “governed” from going any faster. At this point, with the arms stretched fully, the engine would be said to be going “balls out.”
