People switch off at 12 minutes! That is heresy! When one starts a Minty, one finishes the Minty video! You are a national treasure, dude. Been watching your videos for 4 or 5 years now.

Fun Fact: HG Wells The War of the Worlds and Bram Stokers Dracula were both first published in 1897 and only weeks apart from each other.

Minty, the machines were buried but the aliens arrived in the bolts of lightning

Here is another trivia:
Evrything in the movie being rushed meant VFX artists had to work around the clock for months in order to deliver the shots in the short deadline. It was done basically as a favor but after that many productions asked to have the "War of the World" treatment and the work conditions in VFX started deteriorating with shorter delays and still asking for higher quality. So many brun outs were caused by the special treatment this movie received.

I remember watching this movie in the theater and the sound of the tripods siren was so strong and deep that gave me goosebumps.

I love the shot where the camera appears to go inside the car, from occupant to occupant and then seamlessly out again. Many friends didn’t even notice that until I pointed it out to them.

I saw this at the theatre and I still enjoy it to this day. I watch it on DVD probably 3-4 times a year. It never gets old. One of my favorites.

Fun Fact:
In the 2005 remake of *"War of The*
*Worlds", * Steven Spielberg actually
reunited with one of his actors
from the 1975 summer blockbuster:
*"JAWS".* That actor was Jonathan
Filley, who played Tom Cassidy, the
drunk boyfriend of Chrissie Watkins
aka the First Shark Victim.

Jonathan, however, never worked as
an actor in another film since *"JAWS", *
and he worked in *"WOTW '05"* as the Unit Production Manager (New York).

Other credits for him include
working as a Location Manager in films such as *"Tootsie"* (1982) and *"Regarding Henry"* (1991) just to name a few, and he also worked in many
other films as a producer, co-producer, and executive producer.

I saw this at the drive in, which added to the creepy feel and made us feel like we were part of the movie. The whole time we were expecting the tripods to walk through the trees. At the end people clapped and then Batman Begins played afterward, which made this a great overall experience.

I thought the machines were buried and the Aliens got transported to them via the lightning, rather than awakened. Will need to watch again soon, enjoyed this film at the time.

How the people are disintegrated into dust is definitely better than showing gore and scarier, I think the wailing sound made by the alien machines adds an extra chill to that effect also. And the unnerving way the people act in fear of their lives trying to drag Ray and his kids from the car really shows human nature in its true form. As a fan of the original which I first saw back in the mid 60s which is the better film? The 2005 version is the most realistic of the two but both are equally entertaining. Great video Minty, keep em coming.

I was listening to this driving to work this morning and was thinking just how comforting your channel always is for me. Going through tons of stress right now, hardships. But this channel always feels like home for some reason. I’ve been watching for a few years now and it’s always done the same for me. Thought I’d take the time to say that and thank you for unknowingly keeping me up. Good day Sir. 🙏

I guess you weren't paying attention to what happened in the movie. The Aliens really came from outer space carried by "lightning" only their machines, the Tripods were buried under the ground.

Minty's "Let's check it out!" has become a popular phrase in work 😂

It's not a Tom Cruise movie without that Tom Cruise running scene 😁

I love that the plane crash site was used on the UH tour. Thats kinda what you hope to see on the tour, actually used sets and not just premade pieces (not that I’m complaining)

Love this film. Especially as a parent always protecting his kid. Never knew the grandparents were the original movie actors. Cool!
