Sipsworth is a sweet and lovely book. Being in my early seventies, I enjoyed reading that joyful things can yet be ahead.🐭

What lovely gifts! Children of Time honestly sounds fascinating and is officially the first book of 2025 that I’ve written down on my possible TBR list. Historathon sounds like a great event for all of us history buffs out here and I wish I’d discovered it sooner. 😊Thank you for sharing your first haul! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

great video Pat! I printed out a list of most major american poets from poetry textsbooks at my local library. It's a huge list one which you study your whole life. A handful of each of their poems can be found on the Poetry Magazine and Foundation out of Chicago's website.

Welcome to the joy of haul videos! Lillian Boxfish has a great cover. The Rilke looks love, too. What a nice range of reading you have on deck!

Nice haul. I like the idea of reading books about older people. Especially those who find a new lease on life

So great to see Children of Time in the video. It has a satisfying conclusion without having to read the other two books if you don't fancy them.

Good to see you this morning! The book covers of Emperor of Rome and A History of Ancient Rome are beautiful. I did not know there was a Rome themed event. Now perhaps this is why Steve Donoghue posted in his substack about rereading Roman Blood by Steven Saylor which is a series based in ancient Rome. I would really like to start reading some poetry. I used to read some contemporary poems when I was younger and tried my hand at writing some (ugh). Be well

I'll be very interested in hearing what you think of "Sipsworth" - that one has captured my attention and I'll probably read it at some point. That's quite a book haul - you have some "chunkers" there! Happy reading!

Hey Pat. I also have Emperor of Rome by Mary Beard. Looking forward and slightly scared to read but i plan to read in the summer. Love that you are delving into the Sci-Fi. Great books you shared here!

Thank you, Pat. I’m also trying to get into science fiction. I bought a couple last year and am hoping to get into them this year.

What a nice book haul. I'm also planning to work my way through The Collected Poems of Sara Teasdale in 2025. It's already on my bedside TBR pile. ;) There Will Come Soft Rains was one of my favorite 2024 memory poems.
