"Gentelmen in Moscow" is wonderful, I started to read a library copy and after 100 pages I run and got my own. It was one of my favourites this year, and from what I know it's pretty historicaly accurate (not to mention the main character is just everything I ever wanted and writing is just beautiful).

Vespertine is a lot of fun, and it’s the first book in a series but also contains a complete story in book 1, so it has that stand-alone feel. It was really atmospheric and darkly funny, which I didn’t expect.

Re: Practical Magic, read the book first. Then forget it and watch the film. I love them both, but they are different beings that tell the same story and are yet completely different. Both the book and the movie are some of my favorites for completely different reasons.

Amor Towles is one of my favorite authors, and I absolutely loved The Lincoln Highway. Towles just has a knack for writing characters that just feel so human with their quirks and feelings. I think you'll really love it when you get around to it!

PS: I believe Vespertine is supposed to be a series!

What a wonderful collection of books! I am a huge fan of Amor Towles and can't wait to read "The Lincoln Highway". But as to Anne Bishop's "Written in Red" book....eh. Was not a fan. Thought the female protagonist was a ninny. And finally, "The Death of Jane Lawerence" sounds so good! Cheers!

I read Written in Red when I first went on Short Term Disability from work back in 2019 and LET ME TELL YOU. I binged the first three books because of the escapism and the wonderful satisfaction of the plot. I hope you like it!
