OLD SCHOOL SMOTHERED TURKEY NECKS IN A DUTCH OVEN

I love Dutch ovens
They are an awesome kitchen appliance
You can do all the cooking in one pot

8 pieces turkey NECKS(cut up )(4 whole turkey necks)
1 whole onions sliced
4 cups chicken stock
1/4 vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chopped garlic

Season turkey cavenders seasonings, old school shake, and granulated garlic
add vegetable oil to dutch oven
Gentle flour necks and brown in Dutch oven
Remove brown chicken and place aside
In Dutch oven Saute onions and garlic
Add 4-6 tablespoons flour to onions and garlic and cook until medium brown color
Add 4 cups chicken stock or water
Cook an additional 5 minutes until flour taste is gone
Season to taste with salt and pepper
Add to turkey necks back into the Dutch oven and cook in oven until tender at 350 degrees
for 2 to 2 1/2 hours

You can use this cooking method for chicken and pork chops
If you dont have a dutch oven ,you can use a regular roasting pan

When we were growing up, and money was tight, my mother would make this particular dish that would last us for several days! She would go and buy a few pounds of chicken necks! She would boil them with the holy trinity and garlic! When they were almost done, she would add rice! She would serve us this with a salad and saltine crackers!! To drink a big glass of Kool-aid! I hated eating it but it filled our bellies a many of times! Another trick of hers when money was tight, for a Sunday Dinner, she cooked a big pan of dressing with turkey tails! She served greens, candied yams, and some type of peas (black eyed, purple hull, or fields with snaps)! I know how to cook when money is tight! We just didn't realize how blessed we were, because some of our neighbors didn't have anything to eat! My mother would offer them something to eat or drink! I thank the Good Lord for my parents and how they raised us! 🤔🤨🧐😢✌️❤🙏

DIRTY FLOUR??? My grandmother and mom made gravy the same way! My grandma live to be 96 and my mom 84! I'm in my 50s and make gravy the same way. That's just a mess. My friend accidentally put nutmeg in her cornbread dressing and we ate it! 😂 This meal looks amazing. I love turkey necks. Have a blessed Sunday and a great week. 🙏🏾

Hey chef, the only thing I seen made with turkey neck is turkey and rice. I don’t eat that but smothered over rice seems good. I also want to try turkey butt or tails. 😁

I baked your buttermilk pie recipe yesterday afternoon and served it today, after night’s chilling—super yummy! It tasted somewhat like eggnog which I like, too. Thank you for sharing your cooking and baking talents with us! ✌🏻
