One of the biggest concerns I hear from beginner lifters is getting a post workout meal that’s high in protein. This is usually termed the anabolic window, where you have about 30 minutes after a workout to consume protein to maximize your muscle growth. While there’s no harm in doing this, the idea of frantically trying to maximize this period of time is a bit overstated. The key to growing muscle is far beyond just the anabolic window. Furthermore, other factors such as overall protein intake, calorie balance and food quality are more important for muscle growth and recovery than simply consuming protein immediately after a workout. It's also important to remember that while protein is important for muscle growth, it's not the only nutrient that's necessary for overall health and fitness. Instead, focusing on progressive overload in the gym, hitting your daily protein goal and then staying consistent with both.

I couldn’t care less about the anabolic window IF it exists, but I will still eat my grilled octopus after every workout if it kills me
