I have had 2 Smart cars now in 3 years, they are wonderful, I live in uk and am a female school bus driver, so one minute I drive a manual bus and next an automatic Smart car.

One of the best fringe benefits of the fortwo is how much room it leaves in my 2-car garage for other things. In there I have an enclosed library, a Soloflex workout machine, a Total Gym, a Trio Trainer, free weights, 3 bicycles, a t.v., cabinets and benches all around, a revolving chair and much more. When I kicked out our other vehicle and put the smart in there, the rest of the garage really became much more useable. I could not do that with ANY other car. Just something to think about!

Unfortunately it's illegal to park end on in most countries, mainly because most European parking spaces aren't wide enough and that there are no side reflectors.

Do they come in automatic in America? I hate manual, too complicated...

Simply too expensive, starting from £11, 200, and no diesel option which they dropped last year, not a problem for most of us, but it's the main reason i did not buy one.
Ive owned my CDI smart for over five years, and it returns great economy of an easy 70+mpg.
There are far too many cheaper alternatives to the new ForTwo, Skoda CityGo, Seat Mii, VW Up, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo, Fiat 500, to name just a few.

All the above cars are cheaper to buy than the new Smart, and all of them return similar or comparable fuel economy.

In 1998, the Smart was so unique and fuel efficient, especially in diesel form, that there was nothing to compare it against, that has now changed.

Will there be a high (relatively) performance version? Renault had the twingo 133 right? In the US we only get the cosmetic brabus smart. Was hoping for something more akin to the fiat 500 abarth essess.

Every Mercedes/Smart Garage I've visited I can't find any model with those Daytime Running lights. They have Running lights but not that style. Why is that?? Thanks. PS I pick mine up next Sunday!!

How tall is Jon? I'm 6 foot 5, I test drove the previous model last year and it was quite embarrassing, my head touched the ceiling and my knees were so cramped. I need to know if a tall driver can fit comfortably before I take another test drive in the new model. I really want to buy this! Someone help? Auto Trader
