So, if unmarked individuals can go to the Olympics, then those individuals who, for example, did not qualify to represent their country, can also go there as unmarked?

Never. It must not be accepted. Russia must end the war.

Maybe everybody else should just bow out and hold own competitions. Let them have their terrorist competition then.

Disgraceful, Olympics now discredited

From my perspective, imposing a ban on Russian athletes from international competitions is justified. A country that engages in a war, whether it be for any reason, must also face the consequences of its actions. It is unreasonable to expect life to continue as usual for any nation that goes into an aggressive war to annex territories, in violation of international law.

I love watching the Olympics which are televised, but will not watch if the rules allow Russian competitors because of the deaths of innocent civilians including Ukrainian athletes as seen on the news.

I predict that russians athletes will be copiously booed in Paris.

Their athletes did nothing wrong, they should not be punished for their government.

All country should be allowed to compete... Olympics should not be used as a political tool or bend under cancel culture

When Putin buys Presidents in Sports, they make stupid decisions 😂. Trying to explain it to the embarrassed public.

How many of you are old enough to remember the boycotts of 1980 and 1984? What a mess for the Olympians who had trained to compete and could not then go . So sad altogether. Then the breakup of the USSR and of course the new anthem for Russian athletes. And then putting professional basketball players into a competition for non professionals. Un fair all around.
Let these young people have their weeks to perform thier trade. They worked too hard to take that from them yet again.

The IOC is flat out wrong, as are other athletic organizations (tennis, hockey) that allow Russians to compete. I am boycotting all of these. If the argument is that Russian athletes have nothing to do with the conflict, you are completely missing the boat. Ukrainian civilians who have "nothing to do with the conflict" are killed daily by Russia's terrorist attacks against Ukraine's civilian population. Why are Russian athletes treated as elitists with special priveledges that they are allowed to get a free pass here? ALL Russians need to be expelled from the world community and held accountable for the actions of their country. In order for an economic boycott to work we need a 100% boycott. We aren't going to pick and choose which Russians get a free pass and which ones do not. We need to stand together and completely isolate a rogue predatory nation that has an indifferent and cavalier attitude toward their invasion of Ukraine. Understand IOC? Until you do the right thing here, I'm boycotting YOU.
