The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended Tuesday that Russian athletes compete as individuals in international sporting events.

The IOC issued a set of recommendations, saying that those "with a Russian or a Belarusian passport must compete only as Individual Neutral Athletes." This means that athletes can compete as individuals without a national flag or under a "neutral" flag.

It advised sporting bodies against considering teams "of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport."

The organization clarified its recommendation to the governing bodies of Olympic sports "do not concern" the 2024 Paris Olympics — which run between July and August next year — saying that decision would be taken at a later date.

They've been "neutral" for the last couple Olympics because of doping. What will it take for them to be banned?

The whole neutral flag thing is laughable. Everyone knows it’s Russia so what’s the point? More virtue signalling? 🤣 legit clown world.

IOC's love for Russian and Belarusian athletes are curious. Not sure if the official got something under their desks. Usually all of these sporting bodies are fully corrupted.

Olympics Thomas Bach and FIFA Gianni Infantino should be called out and shamed

If the atrocities that Russia has perpetrated isn't reason enough, then nothing is.

Boycott the Olympics if Mordor is being represented. Simple.

If Olympic is for country without war, they should just close the organization....

If it's against country with present conflict at hand, then they should make it a law.

But if it's against country fighting against western interest, then just HYPOCRISY...

What are the nationalities of these athletes? Nation-less? Russians? Belarussians? So long as their country is illegally occupying and carrying out illegal and unprovoked military actions against another independent and sovereign nation, their citizens should not be allowed to participate in any global competition that might bring glory, honour and/or international recognition to their country. Period.

Why not let Russia compete, they are letting Men compete against Women now.
Rules have long gone out the window.

The psychological component when competing is very important.
Having an entire stadion boooo all the Russians and Belorussians when they enter and during their performance will send a message to IOC Oligarch President Bach. The Russian athletes will wish they never step foot in Paris.

I don’t recall USA ever being banned for invading Vietnam and killing millions of innocent civilians, or starting countless wars in the middle east. Not for supporting the current palestinian genocide for the matter either. If one rule applies for one it should apply for all.

Hardly surprising, the IOC has always taken a blind eye to atrocities.
Germany in '36 rings a bell.
Or the recent Beijing games.

I am not understanding why it was even a discussion in the first place. They would be banning a lot of countries if athletes were representative of their country politics.
