It is great that as I have gotten over 50 years old myself I can see how much better I have done on a lifetime whole foods diet with plenty of animal foods. Never gained weight and never had any health issues. Have had Covid three times without long lasting effects. Three eggs a day since a teenager. Not dead yet!

People that follow DD for a long time might scratch their head at them talking about high protein. It's just a reflection of the quality of Diet Doctor..Nutrition is a science and as such evolves and it's ok to change direction or add new information

As an ex fatboi I think what he said was true, about the obesity epidemic. After I lost my weight I had a conversation with my mom. I told her the simplest way I got so big was that "I was always hungry". It was like I would eat a bunch of food but my body would never get what it wanted.

Active athletic male here that developed fatty liver and insulin resistance eating the SAD American diet and vegetarian diets for years. Started keto and intermittent fasting with a 48 hour water only fast than right into clean keto. Cut out all sugars, processed foods, and most carbs. I eat two meals a day during a 6 hour eating window and fast 18 hours. 3 months into that I reversed prediabetes and liver was back to normal blood test all normal again. I feel fantastic with tons of energy again. Will never go back to a carb, SAD, vegetarian based Diet again.

I finally understand protein to energy ratio from researching The P:E DIET By Dr Ted Naiman. I did keto for a while lost 50lbs but started resistance training & upped my protein, lowered my fat grams. This helped me lose addition 30lbs. When I don't eat enough protein my cravings come back.

Thank you DR Andreas .I have the greatest respect for doctors like yourself ( and Drs Fung and Berry amongst others) who are prepared to go with the evidence rather than tradition in medicine . Good luck with Diet Doctor .

So many years ago I noticed that if I ate an omelette for breakfast, I wasn’t hungry again until 3 PM, but if I had toast or a donut, I wanted to feed my face all day.

For Lent (46 days incl. Sundays) I stopped drinking AND removed carbs from my diet. 10 Miller Lites an evening to zero (960 calories)! So far 4 weeks into it, 2 weeks left. Down from 177 to 169 lbs. Protein shake in the AM (zero carb protein powder, almond beverage, MCT oil, psyllium husk), eggs/bacon/sausage/meat [cooked in bacon fat] for lunch, and usually fish and a vegetable for dinner. Appetite is WAY down, minimal desire to snack.

Why do we eat? I eat to get the nutrients that my body needs to function on a daily basis and of course, to satisfy my hunger!
Btw, very nice video! God bless you guys 🙏 🌹🙏🌹

High protein is great, but beat diabetes with moderate protein first. Most importantly, don't rob yourself of protein, and don't overdo protein when you have blood sugar problems. Find the sweet spot. My issue was not getting a consistent moderate amount of protein, including not enough much of the time, when I began, particularly in association with fasting.

PS: He says "high-protein, " and for all practical purposes that's high-meat, because you have to eat more shrubs to get the essential proteins, and it's in no way intuitive or easy. We were meant to eat mostly meat.

It's fundamentally about appetite control. Some people are more satiated with more protein, some are better satiated with sufficient fat. Increasing protein at the expense of fat leaves me hungry sooner. Also, as a (so far) cancer survivor with high likelihood of future metastases, ive asked DD about the implications of pushing protein (with mTOR/growth signalling) for people like me. There are a LOT of us out here, but no answer from DD.

There is a third reason we eat: to nurture a healthy microbiome in our gut, and maintain a healthy digestive system in general.

Please can you talk about higher protein diets in the context of weight gain and longevity rather than just weight loss

Yeah… but of all the issues nd conditions..it need suit to the requirement of certain time…nd depends on the individu whether they are healthy or affected by certain diseases… however i can say that protein is so crucial💪🏻

Insulin is what stimulates mTOR as well. Chronic hyperinsulinaemia is the real issue...

If we don't want processes overworking in the body then food that allows us to go much longer between feeding sure seems that it would accomplish that. Also eating foods that are much easier digested and are more efficient would do this as well. For me, this points to the idea that we should be in the fasted state far more than the feasted state, something that is not brought up very often.
