That ignis is my mine and my wifes old car!!!! We bought it in 2015 with 18000 and part exed it with 30000 ish in 2016 for a focus!!!!
To this day this was my favorite car we owned. We even took it to italy and back camping with bikes on the roof. I have pictures if you'd like to see. I miss that car. I'm gutted it looks like that now!!

Matt's barber must be driving a Bentley considering how many times in a month Matt has his hair and beard trimmed!

It shocks me how perfectly good cars in the UK are sent to be scrapped for just a few minor mechanical faults. In Canada these would be fixed and be kept on the road until serious rust or a massive failure like transmission or timing chain take them off the road.

Matt, have you ever considered buying a bio-hazard suit? The way some people keep their cars is utterly disgusting 🤢

I just saved a 1999 Daihatsu Cuore. It was supposed to be horrible and only good for scraps. Came with no oil, no coolant, loads of rattles. I gave it a look, paid scrap value, had a drive axle replaced, took it for its MOT and it actually got compliments from the mechanic. The thing is in great shape. The rattles are just rattles (exhaust rattling against the bottom of the car, air filter housing rattling a little). It could do with a minor service and an alignment but other than that, the thing is in great shape. Not keeping it, I have no use for it. But drove about 1500km in it in the last month and it's actually a very lovable little car. Shitboxes are the shit.
Also this video knows you know your stuff; I fully expected the Ignis to be the good car out of the two. But no.

A second-class ride is better than a first-class walk. 😮

My first car was a 05 plate fiat Punto Active 3dr, which I bought in 2007 for around £3k. Left me with around 24k on the clock and didn’t give me a single issue. Loved it, and if I could find one in good condition I would buy one as a first car for the kids 😂 New cars are amazing, but I enjoy seeing older cars shown some love, miss the simplicity of them 👍🏻

The Punto is actually a really decent little car. If it has service history, it might even sell for closer to £1800, possibly a smidge more. There's a ready market for stuff like this. Should sell really quickly.

Dent on the bonnet of the Ignis. Dent on the rear of the Punto. Poirot says they've had a coming together.

The 1.2 engine in the punto is actually quite reliable and cheap to maintain. A large number of them have traveled over 400, 000 km, when the counter on the board stops counting further km.

Those Puntos were actually decent little cars the fire engine was also dead reliable my auntie and my mom who live in Europe both got Lancia Ypsilons back in 05 which are based on that gen punto my moms got written off this year with just under 200k miles and my unties is still going with probably 300k miles

Glad to see the Punto saved, I've always liked these (I owned an early mk1, decent thing).

To be fair, that Punto is 20 years old and has cleaned up quite nicely. Sporting a few minor dents and scratches is to be expected of a car like that given the age it is.
The Ignis has been beaten every day of it's life, the Great Car Park In The Sky is probably very welcome at this point. To me, tobacco leaves everywhere is worse than dog hair, I can just imagine how absolutely disgusting that car smelt.
I wonder the type of person who owns a car in that state and thinks "This is fine."

My neighbour opposite my house bought an 2004 3 door yellow ignis nearly 10 years ago now for £1000. It gets used on a regular basis and it's still going strong 😉 he said its only ever needed maintenance related work in the whole time he's owned it. Best £1000 he's ever spent.

I love my SAABs and my Jaguars, however there is something quite rewarding about pottering around in a car that is cheaper than your neighbours monthly installment on a car they do not own, Great video, keep up the momentum x

Also, your local spending Matt keeps roofs above people's heads and food in their bellies. 👍🤗

Love the Punto, brings back memories of my first car- same age, same spec, same engine, but a 3-door in black. Did everything from city commuting to camping holidays in that thing and it only ever set a foot wrong when stood during the winter, because water got in places it shouldn't. As far as fun, practical, economical small cars go, I reckon it's hard to beat
