The XE for me JB. Super handling chassis.

Great informative video - thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely pick the BMW out of them all!

I want to say I'd have the S5 from this list, but if I had a £10k budget then I'd definitely pick a 420d instead. I feel like the S5 with a V8 means the performance/running cost ratio isn't great, which I guess is a large part of why they're so cheap.

@cars with jb you need to look into the London City Move consultation!! MUST BE REPORTED!!
Some scary stuff around tracking and distance based charging. Much like what they've done in Oxford

Okay so I've owned an s5 and they are really nice cars. But that isn't all that goes wrong. The car is very front heavy and so front suspension arms go quite a lot if you like to dip them into corners. Outside of that is some electrical faults that will always happen with the frameless windows, mainly the window regulators just get rusty from water ingress and they snap. Lastly I'm not too sure but If I remember correct, most, if not all S models are automatic, so if you get anything from 2006-2011 you're probably going to have gearbox issues as the multitronic auto's they had back then were new tech and were kinda dogshit, facelift models resolved some issues but not all. Just a heads up. Also if the car is from a younger person, please expect it to be ragged and fucked. Buy from a mid/late stage older person who just enjoys a quick car, and the occasional track day. If you can, get AWD as the cars back end will get away from you if you floor it without the proper skill to handle it as well. 4 seconds is quick people

I definitely like the appeal of the 420d F32 or F33, but my favourite of them is the Audi S5. Also it's completely laughable how much power the CLA180 has compared to its price tag, honestly I'd rather buy a CL55 AMG for that money considering it has a 5.4 litre V8 lol. The Audi S5 I think has around the same power as the CL55 AMG as well, but again I think both those cars tick all the boxes for cheap expensive looking cars if you're after that sleeper like horsepower as well.

The 4 Gran Coupe might be less petrolheady looking than the coupe or cabrio, but it is actually the ultimate practical daily petrolhead BMW. The regular coupe and the sedan 3 series both have the pointless little trunk opening that can't fit larger stuff, while the 4 series is a liftback almost indistinguishable to an average person with a 3 series sedan, but you have a full boot opening with the back windows like you would on an Octavia or A5 Sportback, so that you can carry large objects, without having to settle for a wagon, 1 series hatchback or crossovers. I don't understand why this isn't a feature on all modern sedans, since their back ends are very short either way. VW even "upped the game" by having the Jetta offered without a liftback boot, while the exactly same shaped Octavia A8, does have a liftback boot and is a million times more practical. Passat and the Superb, same story, like they are doing it on purpose to sell more non-sedan vehicles as well, since people don't have a choice but to settle with hatches, wagons or crossovers.

CLA class may have a cheaper interior but it's expensive to maintain. BMW 4 series probably best looking+ performance.

Imo any car is excluded from the list if it's done more than 100k miles. That's danger territory

I raced a 2011 S5 in my 2022 S3 the other week and it was neck and neck. Surprised the S5 hadn’t lost a bit of power over the years but it still seemed good for that 4.9 second 0-60mph time! A bargain for £10k

The XE in r sport trim in the right colour is by far the most elegant and regal, shame about the reliability issue

Hmm, heart says S5 head says what! With that fuel economy and maintenance costs! So, heads it is then, 430 grancoupe. Probably have to be a diesel though 🤫, again, its the fuel economy thing for me. I do like the blues they come in and of course its a hatchback so, really practical too 😊.

I purchased a 2014 CLA45 AMG for £15K with 70k on the clock, Merc FSH, 1 previous owner, no codes, in good condition, fully loaded. There are some bargains to be had.

The 4series, due to the running cost of the S5.
