I hope y'all are having a good holiday season. This will be the last video for the year, I didn't initially plan to make a video about this car but when my first car video did well I changed my mind. A lot of this video was simply filmed on my phone, so sorry in advance for the quality! Anyway, I'll see you in the new year :)

These car videos have been so much fun! I love the tech stuff but like how you’ve expanded to fixing other things too!

As an ex auto tech and continuing hobbyist, i love these car videos lol. I could watch people work on new/old/antiques all day long. You ever need any help or tips let me know. Been working on cars for 20+ years.

As someone with a 2012 Elantra with the 1.8 that has the exact issue, its nice to finally see someone do a long form video on piston slap and what they have done to try and mitigate it. I also went the extra step of installing a magnetic drain plug to further help. Love the video!

Love the car content! I have a 2013 Elantra and it had this ticking basically from new. By the time they did a recall we were out of warranty. I’ve continued driving it and it just hit 170, 000 miles. I’m surprised it’s made it this far😂

HUGE dankpods energy from your channel and i love it. yanno, making content about normal everyday stuff that we all take for granted or forget about. it's a normal everyday car, but it still has character and an individual story. you rescued it and gave its existence new meaning and i think that's beautiful. keep filming on your phone and keep doing car videos. amazing video

You do a great good job at making "boring" cars interesting. Love the car content.

Airbag error usually means that steering ribbon cable is worn. Usually, buttons on the wheel starting acting weird too. A bit of work to replace, but totally doable at your driveway

Piston slapping is caused by design of the engines with very short pistons, nothing you can really do, apart doing shorter maintenance periods and using good high quality oil and keeping oil level high at F. Keeping them cool, checking your coolant and washing your rads is helping a lot to prevent premature wear.

And don't neglect misfires, it'll destroy these. After one time a failed coil left me almost stranded and had me to get to a dealer who charged me with 100 bucks bill just for diagnostics and replacing a coil, I keep a couple of them and a 10 mm in the glove box. Also, worn spark plugs are prone to destroy coils so change them regualrly (every 30k-40k km) or get Denso Iridium spark plugs which car survive up to 70k-100k of mileage.

And get an OBD-2 code reader.

I love how you revive these cars as well and thorough as you do every computer!

I had an '07 Elantra and saw an exact copy of mine roll several times. The tow truck driver pushed it over onto the wheels and drove it onto the tow truck. Mine also had the knock too but it seemed to go away eventually.

Watching your videos feels like I'm spending time with an old friend with whom I have a deep and meaningful connection with. You've already got me hooked with your car and technology videos, just slap some audio, music and photography videos in there and that's me done! Love from Sydney!

Elantra's are pretty good if you know how to maintain cars. The problem is that most people who buy these cars, usually neglects them by not changing the oil, and transmission fluids when they need to be changed. My neighbor maintains his 2012 Elantra, and he now has almost 220, 000 trouble free miles on the original engine and transmission. Not bad! He originally paid $6, 000 for the car in 2016, with around 50k miles on it. He does a lot of highway and city driving, he is a traveling business man.

Fair enough car to run about in economically for cheap and it's happy to see someone understand that point. The engine is probably fine and won't blow up if you just change the oil regularly every 8, 000km or so. Good to see you take care of it and move it on.

I would put an UV protective layer (vinyl adhesive or transparent lacquer) on the headlights to keep them shiny.

It's so amazing to me seeing those car restorations, it looks so fun... Sad that it probably won't happen here where I live where cars are so frickin expensive and anything you do you gotta pay...

Spark plugs would one have been one of things I would check when getting a used car, especially if it already has issues.

I'm loving these car videos!! Can you make more detailing videos, of cars, laptops, mobiles, PCs, appliances, etc.? Would love to watch such videos, knowing that YOU'VE made them.

Engine sounds worn out, probably from lack of oil changes. But hyundai does have a massive recall on the Theta engines. At our local Hyundai dealer there is no lie 47 cars waiting to get the engine replaced!
