MASSIVE PARASITE on goldfish

I have the sudden urge to smack it like a Mosquito on my arm for some reason.

I'd say they're more like an aquatic form of lice.

In dutch we call it "karperluis" which translates to "carp lice"

It also looks like it has fish tuberculosis (see the ulcer by the front of the dorsal fin?). This mycobacteria can be passed to humans through open cuts.
These are reasons why it is so important to observe the fish we want, along with all inhabitants in the tank before we buy. The fish we want may look healthy but if other fish are sickly in the same tank, it could be contagious and show up in the healthy looking fish after being purchased. This is one of the reasons that quarantine is soo important. Thanks for sharing this Luke. <•))))~{

I got a chinchilla from a pet store and it turned out to have a parasite, she wasn’t even with us for 1 week when we had to put her down 😢 rest in peace Starla

What I did when my goldfish got fish lice is I just put them in a 5 gallon bucket, dosed the tank (filters off) and then dosed the fish kn the bucket, 5 months clean! Hope this helps you Luke!

my goldfish had that for a couple days and i was not sure what it was until I looked it up on line

when i knew they were fish lice i was panicking

luckily i found a medication from a local pet store and saved my fish

This is what happened to my first goldfish. It’s hard to find if you don’t know what to look for, they were not nearly as big in my case
