It’s called Ryokan Shimizu, and it’s in Kyoto Japan! I highly recommend it!

I stayed there and it’s lovely! The owner even gave my family some chocolates after we came back from touring for the day

It’s crazy, there are similar Ryokans even in Tokyo too. $50 a night, with onsen (sentou), breakfast and a sendoff gift. Japan in general is just next level with accommodations.

a trip to japan just keeps seeming more and more attainable based on the prices over there the only thing stopping me is the price of the flight

I recommend people traveling to Japan to learn some Japanese and speak your experience will be even more amazing and to be able to communicate they appreciate that foreigners can speak Japanese even if it's broken and pitch accent not correct 日本語を勉強しています日本語は学ぶのが難しいです

Pfft ... HELL YES!!! Honestly, sometimes all I need is a warm dry bed and a roof over my head. $50 per night? YUP.

I've stayed at many different types of Japanese-style hotels. Love them so much. The food is always great.

It’s funny how in the US, if your bed is on the floor, you get clowned for it and called a bum. But in Japan, it’s just a cool experience lol

Cheap, clean and has a bed that's all I ask for

While here in the US, $70 bucks a night will get you some bedbugs, a stained sheet, and a pet rat to keep you company.

Cheapest hotel in Nebraska, I had to move rooms twice.

First time, one of the towel bars came straight off the wall when I dried my hands.

Second time, the ceiling vent was leaking what looked like pee.

Third room was missing the little catch that reinforces the door, if someone is able to get past the lock. Felt pretty good about that one since I didn't get kidnapped or murdered.

$66/night
