I moved from Davao City to Cagayan De Oro, and I love it here. My fully furnished condo costs me $200 a month. The weather is fantastic; we just started the rainy season, and the cool ocean breeze is refreshing. The nightlife is amazing, with very modern malls and restaurants, and the people are so friendly.

I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

Thank you for promoting cities that are affordable and showcasing their beauty and natural beaches, whether for tourists or those looking to stay permanently. God bless the Philippines!

I live in Davao City. It’s clean, safe, has great infrastructure, and the people are amazing. One thing you won’t find here is nice beaches; there are none.

For 2 to 3 months per year Chiang Mai is rated as one of the 5 most polluted cities in the works...Late January through March is the rice field burring season.

This would be much more believable if the cities and islands were spelled and pronounced correctly.

Cagayan De Oro City also has a place like Baguio City called Malaybalay Bukidnon, with a pineapple plantation, the Del Monte pineapple factory, and many beautiful beaches.

This is an excellent and informative video. Can you please cover the general options for healthcare costs or insurances in major cities like Manila and Cebu?

I plan to pick one city, probably Iloilo, and use it as a base. I’ll live in a rented condo and travel to other places in the Philippines and around the world. Having a base means I won’t have to bring everything I own when I visit other places. If I were younger, I might travel around with everything I own in a backpack.

600$ a month in Philippines, you might live slightly better than a native. Surviving, not living. Come to Philippines poor, you will live poorly. You can't have a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. If you are poor, stay the hell home.

Tomorrow there will be a new pension in Germany again. PH is just a holiday destination for a short time, then quickly back to Germany.

If I have about $600 per month, can I live in Da Nang, Vietnam?

This is all from personal experience gleaned from travel in Southeast Asia from 2019 to the present. First, Malaysia (and Penang!) are wonderful, but that "Malaysia My Second Home" program has some rather daunting financial requirements! Count on depositing an average of $25, 000 USD (100, 000 to 150, 000 Malaysian Ringgits, depending on age) in a Malaysian bank before applying. Secondly, I enjoyed Ubud, Bali, Indonesia BEFORE COVID. One great thing for me is its location inland, so one isn't victimized by drunken surfers like in other parts of the island. However I returned in 2023 and found the city had been overrun and the laid-back vibe has been destroyed. Da Nang, Vietnam. One of the few large(r) cities in Vietnam I'd actually be able to live in. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are terribly polluted, with Hanoi constantly in the world's top 5 cities for worst air quality. Ho Chi Minh City's very close, but also sports the WORST airport I've ever encountered! Vietnam is actively trying to figure why people come to visit, but, unlike other countries in S.E. Asia, they never return. I think I know. Noise, traffic ... and the trash everywhere. Not only is the air terrible, people don't seem to be able to use trash bins. Finally, Thailand. Not the budget kingdom it once was. Also, some "popular" areas exist primarily as whorehouses for wealthier nations. Just not my "scene." I spent some time there back when a certain YouTuber was claiming one could live like royalty on $500/month. You couldn't then, you can't now. One more interesting thing. About three years ago, the Thai Government started cracking down on the foreign "Cheap Charlies" who were begging on the streets. These people were exported to the Philippines - and may still be there. SO, if you intend to relocate there, first, your average freelancer is now about $70 USD for "short time" and plan on spending more like $1, 500-$2, 000/month USD to live comfortably.
Myanmar? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The former Burma has been embroiled in a bloody revolution since February, 2021! Who in their right mind would recommend the largest city in the country as a good place to live? "...relatively safe" is a load of absolute CR*P!

Problem with da nang marijuana is not legal and some areas are very dependent on tourism so it is hard to relax you are a walking cash register and you will be pestered all the time while you are walking around.. And I do not look like the stereotypical tourist. Actually being a little intimidating makes no difference.... If you look like a softy walking around in a Hawaiian shirt God help you.. Vietnam does not have a very good Diversified economy.. Pure tourism.. I will give you my report on Chiang Mai Thailand. Hopefully it is Diversified with other Industries around it.
