I experienced this and had a panic attack. Scheduled for an open MRI tomorrow. Hopefully it’s a better experience. 😳

I'm gonna get one of these tomorrow. I'm 10 and I don't like loud sounds or tight spaces. Wish me good luck!

I had one last year for the 1st time and I actually enjoyed the experience. I'm always fascinated by new experiences and found myself during my scan comparing it to going on any amusement park ride, and I love me a thrill ride. After the novelty of the sights and sounds wore off I eventually dozed off so didnt seem such a long procedure.

i just had an MRI scan on january 3rd with the Hitachi Aperto Lucent, there was a phase where it sounded like:
POP POP POP POP POP
i had to go thru that for 10 minutes, it felt like i was at war

You are missing the one key part: the music that you can barely hear and then them constantly coming in talking to you

i don’t know how to explain it, but the whole 30 minutes was a battle not to fall asleep. the sounds changed every few minutes but they were the same, all rhythmic. it was incredibly relaxing and safe. i felt like i was inside a cryo-chamber.

I've been doing it since the age of 12-13, nothing to be scared of, actually

Something a lot of people don't realize is that helium is extremely rare and the world is running out of it and once helium is gone, and say goodbye to MRIs if they don't find some other way to cool them. Given that MRIs are so much more important than party balloons I think it's kind of short-sided of society to be using helium for non-critical applications

Me and my brother had MRI scans once when we were small. I looked so forward to experiencing it, but I fell asleep before and missed it and I was super pissed. Meanwhile, my brother was having a panic attack and had to be calmed down. I had to be calmed down because I was sad and angry :P
