Snapdragon X Elite is a HUGE Upgrade for Windows PCs

This is a BIG deal for PCs. @snapdragon sponsored my trip to the #SnapdragonSummit to take a closer look at the new Snapdragon X Elite #AIPC and 8 Gen 3.

These chips also don’t support a lot of enterprise software currently; we sat in ARM marketing meetings about these few months ago, but Windows for ARM just isn’t ready yet. The fact they didn't support our VPN was an instant no.

I must say- I am happy with the fact that APU’s are getting so powerful, but I just don’t necessarily get who the target audience is at the moment. If your gaming on a notebook, you still absolutely have to go for an dedicated GPU model. As well, if your not gaming you really don’t need all that horsepower to browse the web/ run basic programs.

Even if this chip is technically faster, it is unlikely MacBooks will become less popular and people will start switching to windows with this chip. Windows ARM support is something else to talk about, but along with that, when it comes to Macs, Apple is making the chip, the computer, and the OS. The amount of optimization they can have is much more than what Windows will do with ARM, and consequently the performance gap will likely be nowhere near what Snapdragon is claiming.

It outperforms apple M1 chip, and is a huge milestone for SD. Now someone needs to convince Microsoft to optimize Windows arm support.

Now instead pressing f12 and choosing windows install USB you will have to:

Press and hold ctrl alt delete, then connect a laptop to the other computer via HDMI and type-c, then install Windows Recovery, after that install Visual Studio Community and use Windows Debug Shell, then type console commands and brick your windows arm laptop

The problem with Windows is they can't force Developers to optimize for Arm. Unlike Apple, so no chance.
