Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge (16 Inch) Review | Snapdragon X Elite Beast!

Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge 16-inch laptop, running Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite. This is the custom X1E-84-100 version of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge, with impressive benchmark scores and gaming performance, even vs Asus' Vivobook S15. And hey, there's Co-Pilot and other AI stuff.

If you're a creator after a portable laptop for video editing etc on the move, this Snapdragon X Elite notebook is well worth a look. It's a 16-inch beast so you'll need a good-sized bag, but the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge boasts impressive power. Gaming is also well handled, with the only issue being support.

Battery life has been solid so far, if nowhere near hitting the manufacturer's claims. And as usual, Sammy delivers a solid laptop experience.

That AMOLED screen is a stunner with SDR to HDR upscaling and full sRGB coverage. Usability is decent thanks to the firm keyboard and touchscreen/touchpad combo. Plus, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge 16 has the usual selection of ports.

So if you're after one of the best Windows laptops for video editing and creating in 2024, this Samsung slab is right up there. Gaming is still limited thanks to the ARM chipset requiring emulation, but I've found a handful of recent Steam games that still play.

You should add the timeline for "battery". I almost skipped your video thinking you didnt talk about it.

I went with the 14 inch. Awesome laptop. Feels impossibly thin and the screen is the best ive ever seen. In my use you just forget its an arm processor. Everything works really smoothly and responds to everything you ask of it pretty much instantly. Only time you become aware is when you look at the battery after using it for a few hours and you still have loads left.

S15 uses a slightly inferior version of x elite

These arm chips would be game changer on handhelds if they’re optimized

Thank you. Your reviews are always very helpful and insightful. It would be lovely if you could include sound samples in your review. :)

Hopefully it's not offensive to say that I love how deep this guy's accent is. I hope I sound like this to other peeps who aren't American or from the UK

This will really help us get good android games.
If there can be a good AAA game for a Arm based pc like this then we can go ahead and do it for the younger brother 😊

You said dual thunderbolt ports? I read elite laptops doesn't support thunderbolts. It's just USB 3.1 and display port over usb-c

If there's something I learned back from when I (regrettably) bought Apple devices, it's that you never buy the first generation/iteration of the product. Gen 2 is still ironing things out. Gen 3 is where it shines.

Anyone know if the USB-C ports offer display out as well as charging? I use a single USB cable to connect everything via a dock so need that functionality

The bezel on bottom makes it asymmetrical during viewing videos

2:02 Quick correction - Those USB-C ports are USB4 ports. They do not support Thunderbolt because Qualcomm's CPUs do not support it.
