I often get told by gym bro's that they don't squat/deadlift because becoming proficient at them "makes you look fat in clothes" due to a "blocky waist" and that "no-one see's your legs or lower half much anyway" so there's no point in training them "as chicks don't dig thick waists"..Apparently...

Core is your posture, your defence, your base. Focus it.

nice video again. I'd like to know what you recommend for someone who is injured. I have lifted for ell over 5 years and always tried to train smart. Something happened along the line and i hurt my lower back. Never really been the same and I dont want to risk deadlifts and squats because further injury to my low back will most likely cause me problems in day to day activities. I try to train well, chin ups, dips, ohp, bench, cardio, i consider volume/frequency etc but it's frustrating not being able to squat and deadlift. I think this would make a good video topic would really appreciate your thoughts.

p.s iv seen more professionals than I can count. Waiting on an MRI but not convinced it'll be conclusive.

All the best.

Simple logic trumps: if you can lift more weight with a belt, then training beltless exposes and works the core harder/better.

jason if ive been lifting for 10 months but havent met intermediate strength standdards yet can i still make good gains on your novice 5x5 ? i bench around 140x 5, squat 260 x5 and deadlift 285x5, and would recomping on it be possible if i use the cutting version and stay the same weight ?

If the course used in every major exercise - Can/does it become over trained?

I find the belt only helps on rep work on squats and overhead pressing. It doesn't seem to help me on singles, and it never seems to help on the deadlift

If I can deadlift 405 beltless now having never used a belt at all, could I really expect to be able to deadlift 450 or so with a belt within a few weeks? I remember you saying a belt can add 40 to 50 pounds. That just seems so drastic.

Personally I do my strength days with a belt and other day beltless paused

Hey, Jason... Wouldn't strongman be an amazing endeavor for a natural, drug-free male looking to go for a low-weight class championship where it'd be almost impossible to find someone pumping anabolics into their asscheeks? I'm talking about the 175 weight class while being in. It just seems cool and I wanted to know if it'd be viable to be competitive in such an environment given that I become generally strong as fuck drug-free. Thanks...
