Completely disagree, it is not worth a watch. I spent $30 to watch it and regretted. I don't know how you can say this Mulan has more character development just because they show more backstory and slow the explanation. The animation showed just as much of Mulan's struggles without the slower pace, and the animated Mulan's struggles is far better developed. Animated Mulan actually learns and adapts to be an equal which is the message for both movies, where as this Mulan is OP which doesn't deliver the same development of the message. And the actress is very bland in the live action, none of the characters made me laugh, this isn't biased to the first Mulan because I was very excited for this film and it disappointed and bored me more than any of the other live action Disney Films.

I actually wasn’t a fan of this film. Glad you liked it! I thought it was very boring the first half and I didn’t like the message for women that you have to have this power to be something. In the original Mulan she proved through working hard you can be very capable. I didn’t like Mulan at all in this film she was very bland and wooden. Also I think for a PG-13 movie it’s somehow way less dark, creepy, and emotional than the G rated original, while also being devoid of any fun as well. Again I respect your opinion dude and great review!!

This movie is terrible, as a Disney Mulan adaptation it is terrible. But even if this movie wasn't called Mulan, it's still terrible. There is no charisma whatsoever, the characters are very bland as well as the acting except for the Witch perhaps, it doesn't even feel like a realistic take on War, and it really isn't darker than the animated version. The only thing this movie has going for it is the visuals, settings and costumes. But that's not enough to call it a good movie.

Honestly...I love the movie! I watched it 4 times and picked up more details in the film then before. Has the same events as the original but more different twist which makes it more interesting to me. Before watching it, I have seen YouTube reviews of the movie and majority is negative but I wanted to see it for myself and not go on the negative reviews. Glad I watched it because adore this movie. Can't go on what everyone thinks, had to form my own opinion on the film.

The only reason why I liked the original Mulan was because of Eddie Murphy...and the 'I'll make a man out of you' song.

I like the 1998 enough but I feel iffy about it. Like how she doesn't know martial art in the begining, how he cuts her hair and how she was kinda clumsy and unreliable but get transform to good soldier somehow.
I want a serious Mulan because she is a general and in war for 12 years. The 1998 is too fairy tale for me.
I want to recommend you Mulan 2009, a Chinese movie that is more gritty about Mulan and not PG 13.
