Replacing the String Trimmer Line on the EGO 60 56Volt Trimmer

Here is a quick tutorial on how to replace the string trimmer line on the EGO 60 56 Volt Trimmer.

I am giving you a quick three-step tutorial so you can easily replace this on your own if need to replace the string trimmer line or if it is jammed you need to add it back.

Step 1
- Remove the Battery

Step 2
- Remove any old trimmer line in your trimmer
- You do not have to do this step if there is nothing in your trimmer

Step 3
- Feed the trimmer line through the trimmer head
- Twist to the right so the trimmer line starts getting pulled into the trimmer

That is all you need to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in the comment below. Thanks again for viewing my content!

Thank you for keeping me from going to the hardware store to ask a man how to do this! The directions are written like a college term paper.

Much love, your video saved me! <3 There are so many versions of this trimmer, each with a different way to load. The manual wasn't helpful either. Angry man tears were shed until I found this vid. Thanks so much!

Many people in many forums, including myself, have complained about how difficult it is to depress the two tabs and to remove the head. Clearly, the design has changed at some point. Compared to yours, EGO added MONSTER pressure to the internal spring and possibly also stiffened and thickened the tab material on the ST1500. This also seems to have rendered the "bump to advance" feature to be essentially non-existent. Lots of us, including me who has rather large and I think pretty strong hands, resort to jamming screwdrivers into the tab slots and then using a THIRD screwdriver (while trying to keep the others in place and not slice ourselves) to pry loose a very tight head. So ... I'm in awe of your SUPERHERO hands, or at least, of the version of the product you have that allows you to just pop that sucker off like the pop tab on a can of Schlitz. Many of us are miserable with the ST1500.

Perfect! After fiddling for a year, I executed this 100% on the first attempt.

Me, 70 year old female, had to resort to the screwdriver…still was a challenge. I fed the line through the hole - the easiest part! - it came out on the other side right away. I evened it out so that the string was equal. Now I am trying to get the line to be drawn into the head! You seem to have to be “super strong”. I’ll keep turning it and hopefully it will eventually be drawn in. I bought this because I thought it would be easier to use and I liked the idea of a battery instead of an extension cord!

DUDE! Thanks for the refresher. I couldn't for the life of me remember how to refill the line on the older model

You were sooo helpful! Borrowing my dad’s trimmer and this was exactly the step by step I needed!

Oh, thank goodness I read this, I was beginning to think it was just me! As a female and not very big, I am finding it really frustrating to try and change the cord. It does not seem to feed the new cord through either as I use the strimmer just gets shorter and then non existent.

I REALLY appreciate you showing me how to thread the line back through. Then, I tried turning it clockwise and it wouldn’t budge! I didn’t realize I had the “power load” model and stumbled across the button by mistake. I had the battery back in so I don’t know if it was required. Anyway, pushing the button and the thing wound itself - kind of like some vacuum cleaners pulling the power cords back inside.

Agreed on the tabs being difficult. I doused the whole head in wd40 and wiped it down then jammed the screwdriver in and it popped off fairly easily. I’ve found that using wd40 or a silicone lubricant prior to disassembly of most anything really helps.

I was only doing it wrong for 2 years lol

Thank you

I was pushing the cap down so it did not work with me. It took me 15 minutes to know I should pull (not push) the cap to make it work. Thanks
