I'm a 72 yr old widowed woman who has never used these tools I am now forced to learn because I can't pay someone to do it. I absolutely loved your description of how to change the string "thingy". I was able to go out and do it without a hitch. I so appreciate your help.

You are a angel sent by god. I’m a very young man trying to do right by his maw. And my weed eater has just been the bane of my existence... now I can weed eat without screwing with this spool every 10-20 minutes of using this string! 🙏🙇‍♂️

I could actually cry. Thank you so much. Without my usual help, lockdown has seen my grass get higher with every fresh rain shower, it's now almost waist height and I have spent so many hours trying to work out how to string this bloody thing, always ending up in a frustrated tangle. Now my trimmer (what we call them in the UK) is loaded (5 minutes, first try!) and I'm going to claim back my garden. Huge hugs from Yorkshire, England and bless you for sharing this!

My dad passed away last year and strimming was always his job. I'm trying to figure it out this year and this was a god send. Thanks all the way from Ireland.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I’m a 60+ years young lady that used to pay someone to take care of my backyard. I’ve found myself unemployed and taking care of my backyard myself. I couldn’t figure out how to load my “weedwacker”!!! Your video is a Godsend!!🙏🏾

Well done on the method. I work at a STIHL shop myself. Only suggestions to make it easier would be that if you just take 4 arm lengths and cut it. Put each end in the spool as you did and spool it till you're left with a short loop. Latch each edge in the notches built into the spool for holding your line while putting the spool into the head and cut the loop of line. Pull the line from the edge of the spool into the appropriate eyelet and they hold themselves there. Put your faceplate on and go. Otherwise this is super helpful and will recommend it for people who don't have time in the shop. My method would just save you the time of measuring two seperate pieces cause you can cut it at the very end, the spool is built and designed for that. The notches on the top edge of the spool opposite each other. And the effort of holding the line once it's been spooled, hooking it into the notch on the top of the spool removes that risk/effort of holding it from unwinding completely.

Tip: If you notice more line breakage than what you feel is normal, drop your roll of unused line in a bucket of water for a day or two. Old line can become brittle and a good soaking can reverse this from happening. This is equally true with a new roll of line as there is no way of knowing how many seasons it was on the shelf prior to your purchase.

Thank you, this is the first time I had to cut my small piece of lawn since my husband died unexpectedly 3 weeks ago. You explaination was brilliant, and I managed to rewire the weed eater from your video. Widow in Cape Town, South Africa

Amateur tip: wear nitrile gloves when changing your string if you're working in an area with poison ivy. Source: personal experience.

Nice Job! This makes it twice as fast as the way I was doing it at one string at a time. Thanks for a super video (Short and right to the point without all the "extra talking") Thank You!

Thank you bunches. Always been a hard working chick but never have I ever used a weed whacker b4. Kind of proud that with a little of your help and my Jack of all trade skills I got all around the house, and edges. Thanks darlin.

I can't thank you enough for this! Doing this was hell for my husband every year, but since he passed in October, it's become mine. Until now! You broke it down perfectly. Took me less than 5 minutes and it worked flawlessly. I will definitely keep watching as I have so much to learn. THANK YOU

Good well executed video. Instead of holding the reel stationary, I hold the 2 sections of string on either side of my middle finger of one hand and hold the reel on top and bottom with the other hand then spin the reel in my hand. This keeps them from twisting and takes even more time off. Thanks!

Thanks for this! Parents told me to do some yard work today, so I figured I'd go the extra mile and surprise them with a nice weedeated front yard!

Thank You!!! I have to go to your video every year to find out how to remove the head from my trimmer and its always easy, but easy to forget! So you are a Godsend every spring when I replace my string and other simple things that most folks already know by my age (72). You are the one I search for and always get simple answers that I can go "AHAAA! Now I remember!"

Great Video. I can't believe how I struggled with this task. It took forever and of course when you are trying to get a job done, you get frustrated when things aren;t going right. I used your method and got restung and whacking again in just a couple of minutes. Thank you!
