I quit my job to start a farm. Was it worth it?

A little over a year ago, I quit my job to start a farm in Vermont. Was it worth it? Well, the answer is not so simple. There have been a lot of lessons learned here on our small duck and goose farm.

I'm 16, lived on a farm my whole life and never really appreciated it. Videos like yours have shown me how special it is to grow up with animals and fresh food all around me, may take a 45 minute drive to see other humans and towns but its definitely worth it.

Good for you. The best time of my life was on my grandparents farm every summer. It's a lot of hard work but well worth it. My grandpa had a job off the farm too. Just enough to help make things go.

I waited till I retired early at 56 to consider this change and I was in a car accident and wrecked my back, now I cant do it, wish I would have done it when I was younger cause I cant do it now, cheers to you, I'm around 60 now and may still raise some chickens, but you rock on man, glad you are enjoying it!

Thanks for sharing your story. You inspire those of us who are firmly on the ledge and everybody in society says, “You’re stupid to do that.” I hear you about the rewards of farm life, the hard work it entails (no PTO, national holidays, nor break time!), and the small if any monetary compensation. I did the same thing! I quit my "dream job" at 29 and bought property and am transitioning to moving off grid. Already 100% worth
