I wish my hospital have lunch program to help with cholesterol, blood sugar, low salt—a culinary therapy. I wish my hospital allows me to use the equipment at the Physical Therapy center, issues with my joints, tendons, bones whatsoever can be successfully addressed. Medical centers would go bankrupted if my wishes came true. Yet in the Scandinavian countries Doctors do prescribe Spa and Resort stay to help a patient heals.

So I have been taking my health in my own hands—eat normally with many colored food that fit a dessert plate. I do hot yoga, pilate, sauna. I sleep until I wake up. I travel twice a year. I spend time with my sister and brothers regularly. I go out and enjoy lunch with my friends.

Thankfully, I still don’t have any chronic health issue. I only email my Doctor for annual blood works.

When I get to my 80th birthday, just a few more years, I will live in a place where there is no 911. Voilà! My way of escaping the tubes and knives in the hospital as well as their food😊

sitting in nature, mountains in the background, minimal editing, just a man talking about life for 40 mins. This is what YouTube is for

In summary, Gooby, a former neurosurgeon with 20 years of training and experience, left his career due to dissatisfaction and ethical concerns about the effectiveness of his work.
He discovered that lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, and stress management were more crucial for patients' recovery than surgeries, which often did not address underlying issues.
Gooby struggled with the realization that the medical system was not set up to promote true healing, which led to ethical conflicts and a sense of being stuck in a job he no longer believed in.
With his wife's support, he decided to quit his job, despite having no clear plan for the future, to avoid continuing a life that was making him unhappy.
He started a YouTube channel to document his hikes and time spent with his dog, finding solace in nature and aiming to cherish the moments with his pet while exploring new possibilities for his life.

I believe you were my husband’s neurosurgeon. When we first met you in the ED I thought you were the nicest neurosurgeon I had ever encountered. (I am a nurse). When my husband had herniated his disc for the umpteenth time and ended up back in your office I learned you were leaving medicine. As the wife of an overworked physician I applauded your decision. I have seen the toll this life takes on one’s body and often times their spirit. It takes bravery and listening to your heart. I am glad you are finding joy in the time you are taking for yourself. Thanks for sharing your videos. I am enjoying them.

Dr. I worked with you as a tech in California for a couple of years and you told me goodbye one day after we did a spinal cord stimulator surgery. You said you were going to try trauma hoping that you could help people. I always admired you and appreciated your instruction and patience. Great video. Glad you are on the mend

At 70 yrs old, I can confidently affirm this is not a midlife crisis. This is your awakening. There is so much more ahead of you. Embrace it.

A man has two lives. The first one starts when he is born, the second life starts - when he realises he has only 1.

I worked in dentistry in the Navy. We never did unnecessary procedures or surgeries. The military philosophy was to keep the personnel as healthy as possible with a minimum of invasion and cost. When I was discharged from the military I went to work in private dentistry. I couldn’t do it. Too many unnecessary procedures and surgeries. It felt unethical. The focus was all about quarterly profits. I went back to school, then went on to a 30 year career as a Forester. I’m not wealthy, but very satisfied.

My grandfather taught me, at 15, " learn two jobs, one with your mind, one with your hands... At 35, I walked away from corporate & became a carpenter. Retired & very happy.

My mom has suffered with very severe back, leg pain for 20 years. She drove a hi-lo at work for 38yrs. She is miserable 24/7, sobbing from the pain, several surgeries, injections, meds, etc with no result. She is soley dependent on meds 24/7. I watched the entire video and applauded you Dr. Goobie. I just had a long talk with her about what you said. Hopefully she can try changing diet & lifestyle.

This is a man who saw through all the bullshit and decided to live. Good for him. The system destroys brilliance.

You did something 99.9999% of people would never be able to do (become a neurosurgeon) and now you're doing something of people would never be able to do - living a fulfilling life.

I am a physician/surgeon. Quit, moved off grid and after 10 years decided to return to medicine. Reduced my surgical volume by 90%, and treat patients non- surgical/ regenerative medicine. I eliminate my patients pain and discomfort quickly and efficiently. I love seeing the smiles on their faces when they can function again. Besides the localized treatment, I recommend a life style change of a proper organic/grass fed diet eliminating glyphosate’s and seed oils, time restricted eating, supplements, ~8 hours of sleep, resistance training, red light therapy and daily sauna. Don’t waste your compassion and education.

That is how you can make a difference.

I am a nurse and want to thank you for your video. I have been struggling with leaving heslthcare for many years. Our system is hurting us. I'm hoping to become an integrative practitioner to teach people the natural power of the body to heal. After being a nurse and a surgical nurse especially, for so long, I have come to believe that we have the power to heal ourselves, we just have to provide it with the right tools. Good for you for following your heart and thank you for sharing your journey. I needed to hear it to encourage me further on the importance of my role as a healer moving forward.

I have a PhD from MIT, 1998 geophysics. I was working at Hopkins in a big data group. I started feeling like this about science, like it isn't healing the world, it's just chasing government grants. I got chronic fatigue syndrome. Doctors said I was "just depressed." So I quit my job, stopped sitting at a desk, sold my house, figured out how to heal myself, stopped stressing, started believing in something greater than myself, got better, moved west. Now I'm a lifeguard and a swim instructor. Just got backyard chickens. Life is more meaningful. Feeling better all the time. I understand.

Medical professional here... walked away after 40 years of high stress 24/7... sold everything and lived off the grid. Immediate happiness and content... I'm still here.

I am an Electricians Apprentice at a company that I hate. They profit off of war, violence, cutting corners, and have been involved in several controversies because the products they create are unsafe.

The environment is awful, the management is despicable.

I'm now planning on leaving, taking a 10 dollar paycut, and using a local program to become a physical therapist.

Your story is beautiful and inspiring. I hope to be as happy as you are one day, and find the peace you seem to have.

You've also inspired me to live better. Eat better, exercise and talk. Sleep well and feel joy.

This is a necessary watch for anyone struggling to find themselves and make a big choice.
