Meditation only brings out, or shines light upon, all things 'bad' or 'negative'. If done right, meditation doesn't cause some one to kill themselves. But becoming aware of all the so-called negative thoughts and emotions can be very intense. Don't fight them, let them come, let them go, you remain.

The trick is to learn how to meditate as a daily practice to help you control your stress in your regular life. Life not made to be soft and easy. Its designed to be challenging. Taking away the variable of uncertainty makes the body weak.

Being in a controlled and peaceful environment for too long, lowers your tolerance for chaos. You get bad at tackling the unpredictability of life, and could get anxious when you return to a society where there's lots of people, sounds and smells, flashing lights and things constantly going on.

The sudden increase in sensory input could make you very anxious, because the brain's ability to ignore the chaos has been weakened. With time, it will re-learn what it can safely ignore.

This is why there’s hermits in the mountains. There’s a great documentary I think called amongst white clouds. About Chinese mountain hermits. They talk about visiting the city and instantly wanting to go back to the mountains. Our society is sick not our minds

Well, yes. Meditating and being alone away from the noise of society can make you realize how insane this existence actually is. Once you shed those illusions there's no going back.

Struggling with this currently. I don't want to return to everyday life as it is. What people call normal isn't normal and we're all slaves to the grind. There is no balance. You live what you consider normal and that's it.

Maybe the problem is the cortisol filled society, not meditation

It happened to me where I went though a year of this weird feeling of I can’t cope with life after intense meditation practice. It’s a huge shift that happens internally. A monk helped me during that time. My life now and I myself am completely different. You become so aware that peoples energies soak into you. I couldn’t handle it. It happens a lot. It is highly recommended to get a very good teacher if you wanna go so deep into it. I was doing 4 hrs a day for months.

It's the result of taking a vacation. The most depressing day in any year is the day after your vacation ends.

Any person who reaches the highest states of mental awareness is bound to go insane once he realizes the pretentiousness of society

Maybe they go to mediation retreats because they feel suicidal and it just doesn't work.

New age meditation survivor.
Demons almost got a hold of me after emptying and silencing my mind. I made it back to sanity thank God. Somethings gonna fill your mind whether you like it or not. I now only fill it with Gods word and prayer. CristoVive ✝️❤️

Meditation doesnt make you suicidal, its an ill mind that does. And when you are mentally ill, you shouldnt spend a week in silence to listen to your ill mind. In this case you should seek a doctor and a therapist. For inner exploration you need a stabile mind and body. Otherwise its like going on a hike with a severe heart disease. Could go wrong but the hike is not the problem.

I did these Buddhist meditations for 2 years for sensory deprivation and had 1 out of body experience. When I came back I started getting into weed more just because I don't know how to deal with reality without making it into a dream state.

Please be careful with the knowledge you gain from these experiences. It's been 11 years since then and I feel close to a psychotic break every morning until I smoke and take a cold shower.

Life is beautiful and it's a gift, but the saying goes "ignorance is bliss" for a reason.

Having done many meditation retreats over decades, i can confirm that not everyone copes with the changes they experience.

The most immediate issues arise in people with serious underlying dysfunction. Could be undiagnosed psychological conditions or those dealing with past or present trauma. The experience of peeling away all the distractions and sitting face to face with that which theyve been hiding from is too much and breaks them deeply.

People have had psychotic breaks on the retreats, actually climbed walls and done midnight escapes in their jammies and obviously after the retreats have been far worse for the experience.

Then you have those whose shift in perception is so extreme that they literally get locked out of the world they knew, theyre on the outside of their previous life and cant find a new way of existing quickly enough.

But being wary of meditation is a little like being afraid of the truth, in case you cant handle it. You generally wont know how you'll handle it until you go through it and most people surprise themselves with their resilience.

I did have out of body experience in a meditation session it did change my life. You don't have to do it for long. just surrender to the universe it will take you to a journey.

This is why I stopped meditating. Strange things started happening when I went into really deep meditative states. It was incredible yet unsettling. I also have enough mental issues that I was no longer willing to risk it. Switched to yoga and exercise instead.

I get this. I had a very hard time adjusting back. I am so thankful I am still here. It was hard, but I did it!!! ❤❤❤❤
