Amphetamine Vs. Methylphenidate

preview_player
Показать описание
Amphetamine (the active ingredient in Adderall) and Methylphenidate (the active ingredient in Ritalin) both belong to the same drug class (central nervous system stimulants) and are used primarily in the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). They work similarly, but the proposed mechanisms are not the same. Enjoy this video and learn how amphetamine and methylphenidate act differently on the brain to produce stimulant effects.

this is a VERY non adhd friendly video :D two different texts on screen (informative text and lyrics), 2 different topics on screen (ampetamine and methylphenidate) and country music blasting in your ears! I appreciate the idea, but just... no . no.

As someone with ADHD, the lack of specificity in the lyrics made this pure nonsense .. and I already know how these mechanisms work so not being able to make sense of this is odd. I'm not actually here to criticize, I think songs can be a great way to remember a lot of information, but try to be more specific and less artsy, it's too confusing as it is. The more general something is, the more confusing it is.

On behalf of those who have ADHD, I found this simply confusing &irritating, maybe if there was an info graphic w/ a normal explanation of each compound first & then a “here’s a nifty song to help you remember” or something afterwards, it would have been a tremendous execution of educational content. But with no coherent explanation of what’s happening *first*, I’m left feeling like my brain was tied in a not.

As an engineer of internal combustion engines for the performance racing industry, this feels analogous to me demonstrating to the layman: “how to calculate piston speed” and neglecting to mention what a piston is and how it’s relevant to an engines performance.

Being someone with ADHD this is one of the hardest videos to focus on 😂 cause the sound an the subtitles don’t match the information. It really requires concentration to block one out haha And also wanna read both at the same time!!

(Still beautiful video)

This song is a mess
It doesn't help getting the animation at all and makes it harder to concentrate in watching it 😔

EXPLANATION: MPH (Ritalin) boosts the already existing dopamine you have in your brain. Kinda like calling in reinforcements (infantry)

AMP (dexamphetamine, adderal etc) gives your brain an extra boost of dopamine that didn’t exist before. Kinda like an air strike or tank rather than reinforcements (foot soldiers).

I hope these similes make more sense than this terribly constructed, yet catchy song!

As someone with actual ADHD ( someone else already mentioned this here as well ) ….this is fucking confusing! I see some one else who is studying to be a doctor, and they love this……… so maybe it would be better to qualify who this video is more likely to help. Nothing wrong in that……but if you want to make a video for the average lol ADD’er than stop with corny songs and break it down for us it laymen’s terms so we can get value from a video you produce.
Just dawned on me…..maybe it isn’t meant for us ( the ADDers )….

I love to learn about amphetamines when there is country music playing on the background!

My man, this is absolutely outstanding. It’s like someone took my brain and had fun with it. I’m a lifelong musician and on my way to finishing my PsyD. Not necessarily the neurological route, but I still had to take a pharmacology class and plenty of neuroscience. I wish I could meet you just to shake your hand, look you in the face, and say, “well done sir, you win life. Well done.”

This video is definitely NOT for people with ADHD.

Can someone point me to an actual source so I could understand how these meds work and what is happening before the meds and in the brain of a neurotypical brain vs an ADHD brain. And what happens with stimulants and their different mechanisms?
I have been looking for a video on the topic of the song but this is just horrible. I'm not even going to try to watch again. It was horrible.
