I like how they made this video as short as they possible could because they knew a bunch of people with ADHD would be watching. Thank you

The fact that I had to rewatch this video about 10 times because I got distracted

I've been reading so many scientific articles about methylphenidate, and now it all makes sense! Thankyou b

This explains so much! It makes sense now that I feel exhausted after taking Adderall, it's because the neuron is exhausted from pumping out so much extra dopamine and norepinephrine. Ritalin doesn't leave me feeling the same way when it wears off, I just feel less stimulated.

I've watched this so so many times to help me remember the difference. Still probably the best explanation on youtube on this topic

Pardon my ignorant self, but looking at this, it seems like methylphenidate seems to be a "healthier" - less" aggressive way" to access the missing dopamine. Recycling instead of "Forcing out more/depleting" the dopamine.

Really great video. Thank you for making this simple and fast. Wish more people would see this. There's a lot of ignorance about this.

He missed one important point. Amphetamine(s) both push out more dopamine/norepinephrine AND block the reuptake. So it's like methylphenidate +1. Before u ask, yes I'm on my prescribed Adderall as I write this lmao

Nice and simple! I’m adding to my “to be shared with others” collection. 😁One suggestion. Referring to Adderall as simply an Amphetamine may serve to confirm an incorrect bias. Some people think it is bad because it is similar to other amphetamines. Methamphetamine (or Meth) is the one with the worst reputation. Since Adderall as a medication is a combination of 4 amphetamine salts, it’s more targeted to the neurotransmitters you mention. The illustration is still accurate, and Adderall is definitely a strong stimulant! But clarity on the specifics can help reduce the negative associations with its cousins.

I’m in my middle 50s and was diagnosed with add as a kid . I was prescribed mph(Ritalin) and then after a few years seemed not to be working as well and my doctor prescribed me addy and that only worked for a year . I didn’t want to keep upping the dose so what I learned to do is have a small arsenal of different stims that work for me and my doctor was on board about it . Modafinil, mph, addy, caffeine, noopept and few others . When I do make the switch I take a week off then go on the new med . I also take weekends off on the medication to help keep tolerance low .

Just to clear up/add to what he said. adderall is 75% amphetamine and it does stop reuptake of dopamine even straight amphetamine does too. Ritalin is a little more efficient at stoping re up take Ritalin also has been shown to influence dopamine and norepinephrine. Adderall is usually more of a true stimulate where Ritalin is more euphoric.but that’s when taken at higher then prescribed doses usually snorted or even injected in some of these studies you should feel no sense of euphoria at a prescribed dose. But do your own research don’t trust some random person the Internet.

Wow. So Ritalin is basically just Sertraline but for a different neurotransmitter(s). Same mechanism (reuptake inhibitor). Amazing. Yet Ritalin has more stigma than Sertraline

I'm curious why adderal makes my mind feel so clear. Is all the jumbled up thoughts I have off of it my brain trying to stimulate itself? It seems like extra dopamine would make you feel less calm, but I guess the ADHD brain is trying to do whatever it can to increase it's dopamine which ends up with anxiety and a million thoughts constantly running over eachother.
