How to Spot and Treat Head Lice

With school back in session, it's not uncommon to hear about the spread of lice in your child's school. Le Bonheur Pediatrician Elisha McCoy, MD, shares some helpful advice for how to keep your child from getting lice -- and how to treat lice if your child gets it.

I remember coming home from elementary school in the first grade and seeing my mom in the kitchen and going up to her saying, “Mama my head is itchy” while scratching it. She got that “Oh no...BUGS” look on her face and told me to sit down in the dining room under the pull down light while she got a comb and checked my hair. Only after a few moments she said, “I see She then grabbed her car keys and told me to go get in the car, that we were going to the store to by the lice killing shampoo. Man that stuff smelled funky. She sent me to school the next day with a note for the office and my whole class got checked minus me since I was already cleaned of them. 2/3 of the class had them. Ugh still makes my head itch just thinking about it.

The part where u say tell them it’s ok makes me happy bc I’m a kid and I think I have lice and I’m a bit scared of it
