Dr Heiser was brilliant. I continue to learn so much from him. I was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I remember everyday the grace Mike demonstrated everyday during his battle with cancer and I find I'm even learning how to live with cancer from him. Most inspiring to me is that he never quit teaching. To his dying day he was all about Our Father's business and I loved him for it.

Paul quotes a Greek poet (in Acts) to make a point and no one bats an eye. Jude quotes Enoch and we get twisted

Enoch, along with many other texts, can be important and historical without being canonical.

"We need to admit the obvious, but not extrapolate to the unnecessary."
An essential feature of rationality.

Wow. That's the best thing I've ever heard in reverence to canon. God doesn't take days off-fact. Love it

"The canon" is all scripture necessary to foretell, comprehend, behold, and declare Christ's
They didn't "decide what was in the Bible" .... they were using the consistency of Yahwehs Word and HIS character... and discerning what DID NOT belong in proclaiming Christ's preexistance, incarnation, life, crucifixion, resurrection, return, and eternal reign.... THAT is the purpose of "The Canon" ....
Enoch is simply a supplementary text that is more explanatory of a "side plot" than it is of the "main plot" of the story of Christ. For immature or functionally illiterate Christians, it would detract focus from Christ and give more authority to angels than they deserve.

The book of Enoch wasn’t in the Bible because it wasn’t a book written for every generation… Enoch even explains this in: 1 Enoch 1:2

“Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, BUT NOT FOR THIS GENERATION, BUT FOR A REMOTE ONE WHICH IS FOR TO COME.”

Enoch was canonical, and then it was removed later on. This was for political purposes. A number of other books were also removed which were once canonical. The original constructors of the Bible had a different Canon. Why was that changed? I thought God didn't change. People, however, do change things. Especially when politics change.

God did take a day off, though. Told us we should too. But, point is still valid.

Yet people are allowed free will. For him to intervene would be to deny free will.

As long as Jesus is born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross and defeated death, and will comeback again. I think that is more important than a book not being included. 😊

Canon only means these books are 100% surely inspired by God, and carrying truth necessary to for life and salvation, or they were at that point of consensus considered so - it doesn't mean other sources aren't and they don't contain any truth.
