Do you think you guys can pray for me? I've been having a rough couple of years. (Thank you for all the prayers! I have already felt my life changing these last few months, I am definitely getting closer to God!)

I was an atheist, I started a journey of studying the forgotten past. In my studies the book of Enoch was included. Everything I discovered lead me to realize we really did have a creator, Jesus is our heavenly father who really did die for our sins. So yes the book of Enoch should be read. It's truth and God is truth, the truth always leads to God.

Oh I love and long for Christs return. I am tired but need to redouble my effort at sanctification and pray in some way I can be useful to God and conform to his will.

Love all of you so much. Wish I could know and be a bright spot in your life as we all move forward in eternity.

Most important thing to take from this: read the OT and NT Bible chapters first, build your relationship with God before venturing into the books of Enoch and other books. I think as someone who needs to continue growing their faith and wants to go deeper into my relationship with Christ, I cannot read these books without doing the former first

Thanks brother, Daniel for clarifying. I’m not trying to sound legalistic, but in my opinion, when something is half truth. I tend to stay pretty far away from it. I love how you mentioned use discernment. Our enemy likes to use half truths all the time. God bless you and your ministry, brother!

God allowed for it to be removed for a reason, if he wanted us to read about it, he wasn't going to allow for it to be taken out. One thing about God- he is an intentional God. The bible is sufficient enough for me

You're so smart. I wish I was that smart. I pray for that kind of wisdom. I love to listen to you explain these things from out of the Bible to us. Sometimes I know it and sometimes I don't and I learn something new. God bless you and your family and Merry Christmas.

Dr. Michael Heiser, books Unseen Realm, Demons, Angeles, Reversing Mount Herman, Dr Michael Heiser is one of the Top Scholars in second temple Israelite Jews to do with the first book of Enoch and all of the rest of the texts from that time period and how it relates to the Jewish and Christian theology and its related placements of quotes found in the Bible in more then just Jude and why it matters to the understanding of the Bible. It will change the way you see everything with a proper biblical world view.

I agree. I have read the book of Enoch and am glad I did. We know that people at the time of the apostles were reading it (hence why Jude quotes from it) so reading it gives some insight into what people of that time believed or were thinking. I do think that The Book of Watchers is probably an accurate view of how people then considered Gen 6. For me, it does fill in some details and actually clears up the flood story. I think the Book of Enoch was probably Hebrew oral tradition that somebody finally wrote down. That doesn't mean it should be canon and added to the Bible. Still by it giving some insight into how the people of that age thought, it allows me to have a little clearer understanding of the culture of the time.

When I read the Bible, I try to drop modern thought and culture and do my best to fliter it through the lens of how men thought during the time when the books were being written. What did they think about the Spirit realm? Demons? The Fall? Ancient geography from a spiritual point of view? We can get insight into what they were thinking at the time the books of the Bible were written less tainted by modern ideas of these subjects. Therefore, I say read it. But that doesn't mean you have to believe it all (I don't believe it all--some of it I do). If it provides a context as to how the writers of the Bible thought about things, it is profitable to know. We should strive to understand the Bible through the same mind set as the writers did as much as possible. One thing is certain. The writers of the Bible had a very different view of the world (and the spiritual realm) than we do because looking at things through the modern lens we have today can create a distorted view.

Many books and commentaries have been written about the Bible in our age. Christians often read them and discuss them. The Book of Enoch is no different. God will not be upset if you read it anymore than if you read a commentary written by a contemporary author. And if it provides insight and understanding of how the Bible writers thought, it serves as a valuable lesson. I'm Very glad I read it. It actually has provided me a deeper understanding of the Bible. It has not changed my mind about any salvation issue. Jesus is still King and He will still return.

Just because it's not considered canon doesn't mean we can't benefit from reading and studying Enoch. If the apostles quote it in the bible, that's proof to me that it can compliment the scriptures. Does that make sense? I mean, it was a part of the scriptures in the beginning.

… Pondering thoughts “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” and pondering (John 8:32) “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Perhaps a prophecy in that we are living in a time where truth is being exposed massively - tie in perhaps from Daniel “knowledge shall be increased”

I had the same question. I asked God. He sent me a dream where I was standing infront of a book case full of books. Suddenly all the books burned out. Only the Bible reamained because it was hidden in a secret compartment. There was a nother book pages were burned on the sides.
The meaning of the dream was that.... what I need now is in the Bible. That is what I need to consentrate on. To know about Enoch is ok but not so important.

There is no reason why Noah would not have brought his ancestral writings with him on the arc. Jude & Jesus both accepted the Book of Enoch as scripture. Noah was very closely related to Enoch. Enoch walked with God on the earth for over 300 years. He was certainly given revelation during those walks. Wisdom would tell people to study the scriptures & trust the Holy Spirit for discernment rather than dismiss what may very well be the Word of God.

The fact that Jude calls Enoch’s words ‘prophecy’ shows that Jude himself believed that Enoch’s words were from God.
