for martial arts- it's great to be open, to train together, to spread knowledge about kung fu globally.
For beliefs- not as much, especially after you mentioned in your videos how it works with meditation there. As a monastery and a sacred place it doesn't work very well with commercialisation and tourists everywhere.
Thankfully there are other, less famous places in China that one can visit on a spiritual journey. And shaolin is still very magical when you disconnect yourself from all that noise and focus on the place and it's history.

My understanding is that the Shaolin Temple was forced to modernize. It was a choice between modernization and potentially shutting down and getting sold to real estate developers.

I think that if they want to spread it, they should make a separate section for non Chinese students (like you mentioned the thing where you barely got in etc) and teach them. That way, they can keep their isolation while one or more of the more eager monks trains those willing to go the length.

I dunno, just general thoughts. They would be able to support the temple with that and stuff, although I do see a potential problem of business part kicking in 🤔

I agreed. The temple should of remained secret and secluded. And hidden within a forest, like the name says. But open to absorb all martial arts, philosophies, knowledge, wisdom, ... of the world . Being that The Shaolin Temple suppose to be the center of The Martial Arts World. And Spiritually. Back then throughout history Buddhists & Daoists were found in the temple eventhough it is known as a Buddhist temple. By the way, this short goes with the video about you quiting Shaolin Kung Fu(Kinda).
