His explanation on chi can also help in a social setting “ it’s like when people say think before you speak”
“Where intention goes energy flows”

One time in high school we had to do a project on “something interesting “, I taught everyone in class how to feel and move their chi. There are a lot of misconceptions about what chi is and it doesn’t help that some folks intentionally misrepresent to sell their courses or basically start a cult.

“Where attention goes, energy flows” that’s actually really insightful! It’s like when you’re focus at doing a task you’ve dedicated your mind to, all of your energy flows into that one task. Will definitely keep this in mind!

I learn with a Shaolin monk and I assure you, you can absolutely feel and even demonstrate the force of Chi in action. When a great master of Chi uses his techniques it's amazing and wonderful 👍

I love the chi master's practical approach to your queries. He was not afraid to put it to the test.

Many years ago, my grandfather told me an interesting story about Chi and karate.
Premise: I am a former karate practitioner (mainly Goju-Ryu, Kenshinkan and some years of Kyokushin) even though it has been many years since I stopped. Back in the day, my grandfather was also a Karate practitioner, mostly Kempo, in his days as a investigative police in the '60s.
When it was My turn, he had stopped his practice for many years, but he still recalled many many lessons, especially from bunkai and sparring, that had helped him a lot in his law-enforcing work.

So, one day we're taking about karate, our trainings and our experiences and of course I'm being a bit blown away by a couple of anecdotes when his karate training proved extremely helpful in his work back in the day. At one point though, we mention Chi (or Ki, we used the japanese pronunciation) and he says to me:

"There is something thought that I never managed to wrap My head around. One day I'm in lesson, and there comes a foreign Master that was in exchange for a brief period. We start doing normal chudan tsuki and chudan uke.. all is going normal until this Master stops for a moment, promps me to strike him again and when he blocks, I suddently felt a surge of weakness and tiredness. Didn't fall, but My balance was a bit compromised for a second and even felt a bit light-headed. I ask him what the hell was that, and he explains it to me: it turns out that this guy was also very involved in the study of Ki, what is ir, how it works and such. So when he blocked, he focused his energy into his hikite: but he was visualizing "grabbing" some form of my energy from my stomach and 'pulling it away', sort of speak. And he integrated that in the simple hikite with the hand he wasn't using for his uke. I don't know what was it, I don't know how, I don't understand how it is possible but from that day on I never questioned that there *is* something going on, when we hear about Ki. Shame that nowadays is being so misinterpreted"

So.. of course: this is something that happened to my grandpa. I never experienced something like that, and I tend to think about all this stuff with the same amount of healthy skepticism that the next guy.
But watching this video, the memory came rushing back and just wanted to share 😂

You are the only guy i saw on youtube in the last 15 years that actually filmed chi in action and also know what it was and also a master that explained it completely true to its nature.

He’s really trying to simplify it and make it as straight forward as possible. I really liked this demonstration

Of course "chi" is real, it's in Dragon Ball Z. Case closed.

Jesse, I started Martial Arts training when I was 14.Traditional Japanese jiu Jitsu. My sensei always emphasized the spiritual aspect of Martial Arts & the power of the mind. He called it focus. As I got older, I sought out and learned about Meditation. Those teaching and practices stayed with me ( daily practice) until at 19, when I went into military service, and then after, getting immersed in what I call the material world. As I got involved in education, career, etc etc, I moved away from what I call my roots; my earlier training. I am now 75 and have gone full circle. I am meditating again, daily, exercising, and while not taking any formal classes, I am mindfully remembering my early trainings and watching your videos for inspiration, for remembering, and learning. This is a great asset for my mind, body, and spiritual well being, and probably more importantly staying focused and positive. I have lost almost everything material, but it is the teachings of my sensei, my daily meditations and your videos that help me stay on track. Thank you for doing them and sharing them with the world. They help (me) in more ways than I can say here.

Like a lot of martial artists, I tend to roll my eyes at most Chi videos. However, this expert was so well articulated, offered no mystical BS, he met questions with informative answers and wasn't afraid to say that Chi has been embellish beyond the truth in some cases. This was amazing. Thank you Jesse and thank you Master Shi Heng Yi.

I could have been watching this for 10 more hours because of how fascinating I think Shaolin monks are.
Also very thoughtful of their verbal response.
