Gender pay gap is a ‘waste of the talents of Australian women’

Assistant Climate Change Minister and Energy Minister Jenny McAllister says the gender pay gap is a “waste of the talents of Australian women”.

“So this week we introduced legislation into the parliament that will require companies who have more than 100 people to make their gender pay gap public”

Gender pay gap. Time to be real it’s an earnings gap resulting from independent people making their personal life decisions. Men with kids earn more by working harder and women with high earning partners can choose to earn less by making decisions where they prioritise things other than money.

Why is this false claim repeated again and again? We know that the difference in pay is explainable. It is usually caused by mixing apples and oranges. Why is a journalist still unaware of this or unwilling to challenge that false claim?

If we compare same job and experience situations then the difference is minimal and statistically insignificant.

Imagine if you were a company, concerned, with the greatest profits. If you could pay women less for the same job, you'd only hire women at all costs, forgoing the more expensive men. Of course, it's rubbish, it doesn't hold up when analysing all the factors and explanations for the pay gap difference, the pay gap all but disappears.

“Pay gap” is a deliberate misnomer. It’s an earnings gap, driven mainly by women working less hours. The reasons for that are varied but there is no need to pretend that there is as a secret global conspiracy oppressing women.

There isn’t.

Instead there is a plethora of gynocentric initiatives designed to fast track women into senior positions in every sector of the economy (except the dirty and dangerous jobs)

these people have lost their minds, guess the jobs where the ladies earn a higher wage isn't part of their idea of the gender pay gap - weird tho, every place I've ever known via friends or personally worked at their starting pay is the same for everyone & I've worked next to females who couldn't do all that was expected a few ask for help a few never needed the help - big deal same went for a few of the male employees
