Educator Luis Perez gives a powerful talk about his experience with visual impairment, his journey with disability and the importance of access to technology for all learners.

--

After a series of car accidents, Luis Perez was left with visual impairment caused by retinitis pigmentosa. In his journey to adjust to his new circumstances, Luis discovered valuable tools that he incorporated into his work as an educator. From discovering assistive technology to taking up photography, Luis sought out means to both see without relying on his vision, and be more seen. Today, his hope is that students who may not fit into traditional categories are given the opportunity to realize their potential through access and visibility.

I love the way he used the idea of "living between worlds" and applied it to his impairment and cultural experience. Bravo!

I am an army veteran and was diagnosed with RP over 20 years ago.
If you are reading this, Mr. Perez, I would love to have conversations with you. I need to understand your journey and how you overcame depression. I need to understand how to build self-confidence. I need to understand how to get out there and do something more. I recently expressed to a friend that I am ashamed of my cane. Is there a book or seminar that you know of and can refer me to. I need more courage among other things. Anything you or anyone else can help me with would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

I've reviewed the Arabic translation of this video, hoping to be useful for all Arabic speakers and others who are interested in.
