The Story Of Jonah EXPOSES The COGNITIVE DISSONANCE Of CALVINISM...Here's Why

Many Calvinists would admit that God gave conditions to the people of Nineveh in the story of Jonah.

Namely, IF they repented, God would not destroy them.

HOWEVER, Calvinists can't consistently believe in conditions....here's why!

If Calvinism is true then free will does not exist and you are predestined to sin which means God is forcing you to sin

Every Calvinist cringe when I bring this up. They act like the Bible is harmful

Never mind that the scriptures don't say that it was conditional either. It was the king of Nineveh that said "perhaps God will relent if we repent"

The Scripture is full of conditional promises, outcomes. The beauty and power of the Lord is His purposes are fulfilled regardless. King Josiah was promised peace but died in war because of disobedience.

God decreed that I would say Calvinist's are nuts!!!

God speaks truth. It is not a matter of “if” something comes to pass, because it will, the question becomes “when” will it come to pass, as by His very authority, it is impossible for Him to lie. ❤ Hence His faithfulness in which we rest and trust.

So what you’re saying is us calvinists believe that God is in control and has a purpose for everything that happens in this life. Wow what peace that must bring to us Christian’s who suffer in this fallen world

As the scriptures say God works all things together for the good of those who love him.

BTW we believe this not because it’s easy to believe but because the BIBLE says this is true. Happy to discuss this more with any other brothers and sister in Christ here

For any Calvinist deniers: "We hold that God is the disposer and ruler of all things, that from the remotest eternity according to His own wisdom, He decreed what He was to do, and now by His power executes what He decreed. Hence we maintain, by His providence, not Heaven and earth and inanimate creatures only, but also the causels and wills of men are so governed as to move exactly in the course which He has destined" Calvin's Institutes book 1, chptr 16, prgph 8

This is strawman. There are "ifs" in Calvinism. These ifs are purely hypothetical scenarios. Counterfactuals cannot possibly happen but are just hypothetical situations

For one he says his children perished due to their ignorance, which is putting the responsibility on the person and second among thousands Christ was known as the man of sorrow if it was preordained he wouldn't have sorrow for the loss That Could by choice choose to seek him

For Calvinism to be consistent on the story of Jonah they would have to say that God intentionally set Jonah to call them to repent as he wanted them to using a outcome that he had not decreed was going to happen at least not yet Nineveh is destroyed but I don't think of the lifetime of that King I think it came later just like with Israel God relented but eventually yeah they still went off into captivity

If anyone’s using KJV. There are 1552 IF’s in the Bible.

So so Calvinists don't think Eve gave us choice man isn't that what that story is all about humans have choice we can choose to sin how can Calvinist say that it's predetermined what you're going to choose that's rash rationality which is the domain of Lucifer. I just figured out why it was never comfortable with Calvinism

All prophecies are contingent, but God knows the final outcome. The Prophecy of Jonah was one of those rare times where God really gave a warning He knew would be heeded. Whenever large groups of people receive a warning there are always SOME who listen.

Hold up, so many things wrong with this but I’ll just say this, unless you deny Gods forknowledge you have the exact same problem. Does God know the actions of men before the action is done? Yes. Can God be wrong? No. Therefore you cannot choose the opposite from what God knows you will choose beforehand. Where’s the free will in that? You’re only left with hypothetical free will in time and space when the agent actually chooses.

Calvanism? All 10, 000 of them? Calvanism hasn't been relevant since the 1860's

Yeah, most lies have a story behind them, but it’s still a lie. That’s the difference between a promise and a prophecy a prophecy can happen a promise will happen

That's the weirdest religion ever. God watches a movie and is quintessentially obsolete for anyone in it - but can't be, because he wrote it that way. So this religion staying irrelevant is God's will.

Calvinism. Cognitive dissonance at it’s finest!

This doesn't disprove Calvinism in the slightest. Things can be conditional for us from our perspective while in reality they are unconditional and determined by God. That is not a contradiction of a fallacy. Two things can be true at once. A shape can be both a square and a triangle once you add a new dimension, and that is exactly what goes on when you move from the physical perspective to the spiritual. It's called a paradox
