The 7800X3D's price has reached a 12 month high in Germany. 25% more expensive than a couple months ago.
All Ryzen 9000 did was make Ryzen 7000 look like the only sensible choice

Great stuff. Currently looking to upgrade a 17yo Core2 Duo system and I go back and forth between Zen4 and Zen5.

Hi Steve,

If possible, please do an updated Ryzen 5800X3D comparison with the 24H2 update. Would love to see that.

For all those that keep posting about the new 1202 Agesa micro-code doesn't apply to the 9700X. There is only 1 CCD for all the cores to communicate across, thus core to core latency can't get faster unless they have micro-code issues causing extra latency.

If I can make one small recommendation. Could you also make an game average graph for all the games, for the 1% lows.
As this metric is important to gauge smooth the game is running.

123w less on 9700x for barely difference, surely its worth it.

So basically, one more review that shows the 7800X3D is a legendary gaming CPU.

Im sorry but if an Intel CPU is considered "nerfed" at 125 watts of power, there's no point in getting one. Those ppwer usage numbers were absolutely abysmal. Intel CPUs need double the power ro have on par performance with AMD. I'm hoping Core 200 CPUs will be better but I highly doubt it, even though its a new architecture.

I bought my 7800X3D back in may form $290 on Amazon, it has almost double it's price now.

The efficiency of the Zen 4 X3D in gaming is just mindblowing.

I'll buy the CPU that doesn't kill itself.

Been waiting for this video. Thanks Steve! I see you’re standing again. Zen 5 must really stress you out 😅

The fact that your 13 gane benchmark and 42 game benchmark show the same performance difference on 23h2 shows how well selected the 13 game sample is.

It’s great to see MSFS back in the results. Thank you and long may it last.

R7 9700x is $340 and i7 14700k is $380, 11.7% more than R7 on Amazon.
84w vs 171w and only a 3% average difference in gaming performance.

EDIT: Are you using those older recommended settings where they still gave an "Extreme" profile for the i7s? (253/253/400A)? On that newer chart of theirs (post 13/14th gen SNAFU), they don't even have an "Extreme" profile for the i7s, only for the i9s. And on there, "Performance" (for i7s) = 253/253/307A. Which seems to limit my 14700KF to 200W power-draw - only when I up ICCmax to 360A or so will the CPU hit 250W.

It's hard to believe that power consumption numbers from Intel CPUs. The gap is enormous.

I was waiting for this, thanks Steve. Let's wait to see if Arrow Lake can fix this massive power consumption issue with the 14700K while almost improving on performance(and also stability of course).

wonderful breakdown! Thanks for keeping everyone up to date with all the shenanigans!
