Stephanie Buttermore said in one of her last videos that this “quarantine”/ lockdown situation could ruin someone’s relationship with food forever and that really hit me. Some people who were never worried about their weight are starting to count calories and feel bad for eating because they can’t “burn it off”. Don’t get me wrong :Nothing wrong with wanting to improve yourself or get in the best shape of your life but there’s so much pressure around staying in shape and not gaining weight as if it was the worst thing that could happen. Like there’s so much stuff going on in the world. And most of us are very privileged because we are safe and all we have to do is stay at home all day but that doesn’t mean everyone is okay. Some people rely on a routine and on being busy to stay mentally sane. Now that we’re on a lockdown they have nothing left. People suffer from depression and other mental issues, some people are currently losing their jobs and losing members of their family and being pressured to look a certain way and not gain weight is the last thing they need. It’s crazy how many people are going through hard times and gaining weight is still the main concern. Louise from mybetterself also said it and she got so much backlash and people saying “omg so you’re encouraging people to eat crap and become obese” and I think it just shows how people are scared of gaining weight. You’re not gonna become obese if you just let yourself breathe and if you stop shaming yourself for eating foods that are considered “bad”. Gaining a few pounds because suddenly your body and your mind are going through a lot of things isn’t something you should beat yourself up for.

I’ve been really stressed about doing grad school online right now and have definitely been coping through food. My favorite takeaway “You are understood and validated for your feelings” and “you don’t feel grounded or have any sense of security” letting me know that my emotions are OK and I don’t need to hate on myself for overeating. Thank you Kelly for your wonderful words of insight and LOVE 💓💓💓

This was incredibly helpful today. For the last 2 years I've embraced my weight gain and I actually felt good about it!! For the last 2 months I've been out of work because of the virus and my self love has plummeted. I've gained weight which typically would be okay with me! But since times are incredibly stressful and unusual for me, the weight gain felt like an added stressors. After watching this video I will remember to be more kind to myself❤

So proud of you for sharing these things for all of us to access and learn from. I’m fortunate enough to go to therapy, but I know so many who can’t and I think this is such a wonderful thing you are doing to help others and encourage them!!!

YES! Thank you. I just had a relapse today and felt exactly the same:"I'm going back to my worst bulimia times, I'm reverting to how i was 10 years ago". And the first thing I had to do is just realize it and be ok, I just had this bad day, that's ok. It's so hard to deal at this time

I had not watched your content in about a year and I feel so happy I decided to check just as you are coming back!! One therapist once taught me to touch my earlobes as a form of self-soothing and self-love, because, why shouldn't you hug yourself? It has helped, at the end these are our coping mechanisms for a very chaotic world, I love how you remind everyone to be kind to themselves.

I’ve been struggling with my weight gain this past week a lot, so I went back to this video and wrote down some things to help me cope with this guilt of gaining weight and upping sizes. Thank you for shining your light on this platform. 💖💖💖

Girl!!! I miss the gym. I lost 90 pounds and this covid 19 is having me going back to step 1...the guilt is real. Plus I live upstairs in an apartment upstairs. ..can't do burpees or jumping jacks. And I'm eating portions out of control. GREAT VIDEO. NEEDED TO SEE I WASN'T ALONE!
