Thanks for the video. Had a bad fill value, replaced it then was still having an issue with the water running every minute or so. Watched your video and figured out it was because I left the hose long that sticks down In that tube. Trimmed it above the water line and fixed the problem.

Perfect. Your knowledge and experience speak through your selection of words, comfort in speaking, listing by frequency, and demonstration of each. Thank you.

Changed everything on the toilet due to a leak and it was the fill tube was stuck too far in beneath the water line. You saved me having to purchase a new toilet because I was about to destroy it with a sledge hammer. I watched a number of videos and no one I saw mentioned that simple fix. ThNk you!

Thank you so much for this. This video just saved me money. Sometimes in my area, good plumbers are hard to find.

Okay, so I see that I could have another issue with my toilet. Mine isn't filling, shutting off, then filling again on a continuous cycle. Mine just continues to run non-stop, therefore, it may be the fill valve you were mentioning, which seems more confusing to me. I will have to watch again. This is so helpful!

Thank you for this video. Is there a way to tell where the leak is from if it's not obvious that it's visible on the floor? For instance, we have a constant pressure well system and we are trying to figure out what we need to take apart for the toilet. We already replaced the flapper but the pressure is dropping in our home still. I rather not for instance try to change out the flange since it means taking things more apart that I am comfortable with. Thank you for your time.

So thorough, as an apprentice plumber it's difficult to remember everything. Thanks!

So glad I found you!! It's NOT the flapper. I changed it out BEFORE I found YOU. It's okay, I got one of the adjustable flappers, so I finally got to take the bricks out of the tank...LOL! Off to buy the fill valve!! WooHoo!!

Thank you so much for these tips! My toilet seems to have a unique problem. The bowl (and I believe also the tank) have a build up of what looks like dirt, but I don’t believe it’s dirt or mold. It’s in the whole part of the bowl where the water is, not just the rim of the water. And it’s only in one of our 4 toilets in the house. Do you know what it could be and how to fix the toilet to prevent it?

Thank you for this excellent troubleshooting video. I have a situation where there seems to be a subtle leak from tank to bowl - not enough to cause a ripple in the bowl water surface, but enough that I can hear a faint trickling sound. I replaced the flapper valve, but the problem remains. In fact, when the tank fills, water ripples into the bowl as well. Does this sound like the tank to bowl gasket or maybe something else? Thanks.

Thanks for the video. One thing I read, and did:
I put Red food coloring in the tank. An hour later, the water in the bowl was red. That made me think the flapper was bad. The other problem was the float wasn't adjusted right. The water level I the tank was right at the top of the fill tube. That caused a siphon.

I’m #7 I bet the rubber is worn out. I’m going to try to tighten it a little first. 🤔 It could be above that plastic bolt though I guess; right at the tank? I’ll get a hand held mirror to help with the trouble shooting. Thanks for your great and comprehensive
diy video. I’m off to check it out with a bit more confidence now.

Our problem appears to be with the flush valve. Thanks!
