If your toilet is installed, do the same thing but be sure the ruler goes above the molding strip.

Good tip. Most toilets are 12" rough, but they do make 14" and 10". 14" was common in the 1920s before 12" became the norm. Most back spud front trappers like the Modernus and Trent are 14", though 10s and 12s also exist. My 1927 Devoro is also 14".

I believe, most of the Kilgore toilets of this generation were a 10" rough-in. They may have further swept back the trapway to push the tank inlet further back for 12", but that might cause some instability because of the tank being so far back. The length of the last (horizontal) section of trapway on all of these models is always consistent, so my guess is they did something else to make it a 12" rough-in. I've seen these installed where the tank simply sits about two extra inches out from the wall, which looks a bit odd, but I know the toilets were original to the location, so maybe they just went with a standard 12" physical rough-in and the toilets just happened to be 10".

My Cadet Pro was a 10 inch rough in. I checked before I purchased and installed my new toilet. My new toilet has the same rough in.
