This video shows you how to install a rear shock on your 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey. Shock absorbers help your vehicle stay stable and safe. Signs of worn out shocks are knocking or bumping noises, loose handling, or a bouncy or bumpy ride. The typical service life of a shock absorber is 50,000 miles, depending on conditions. TRQ shocks and struts are engineered to fit your vehicle perfectly.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2011 Honda Odyssey
2012 Honda Odyssey
2013 Honda Odyssey
2014 Honda Odyssey
2015 Honda Odyssey
2016 Honda Odyssey
2017 Honda Odyssey

Tools you will need:
• Socket Driver
• Pole Jack
• Wheel Chocks

Clear and short, with all of the socket sizes and tightening specs. That was perfect, thank you!

Just finished replacing both rear struts on my 2017 Honda Odyssey with the 1A parts. Took just under an hour. Very easy and made a huge difference in ride quality.

wow, that was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I have been driving with a bad rear shock for 3 years now because I didn't want to pull out the carpet to find the strut mount, but I'm ordering this part today. Thank you

Thanks for this - replacing one tomorrow. Excellent tip to raise & lower the suspension as needed to get the lower stud to line up.

Is it possible to do this with jack stands to support the rear of the vehicle and a jack to lower and raise the suspension?

Excellent directions. 🔧
Thanks for including the torque specs, too.

I’d suggest some penetrating oil on those studs prior to removing with an impact wrench. You want to avoid breaking the studs.
Great video. Thank you.

I'm replacing the shocks on a Honda Odyssey 2012 for the first time. I've got a simple and maybe a dumb question? The new shocks came with nylon straps around them, end to end, obviously compressing the shocks together. Is it best to cut this off before installing or leave the straps on until installed?

Do you need an alignment after replacing the shocks?

3 bolts? Yeah I can handle this, I'll buy a torque wrench for the occasion so I know it's done to spec!
